2021 Rankings Review: Latest Debuts Pt. 1
Tons of new faces grace the latest update of the 2021 player rankings. Here is an in-depth look at some of the newest names and what they bring to the table.
45. 5-6 PG [player_tooltip player_id="186280" first="Autumn" last="Phillips"] – Langston Hughes
A shifty playmaking guard that plays with pace, [player_tooltip player_id="186280" first="Autumn" last="Phillips"] turned heads throughout the summer with her quickness and her court vision. Phillips can score the ball when needed and is a reliable three-point shooter, but she’s at her best when breaking down defenses and creating for others. On a loaded Langston Hughes team, [player_tooltip player_id="186280" first="Autumn" last="Phillips"] is a terrific engine to make the Panthers go.
53. 6-0 PF [player_tooltip player_id="192172" first="Makaila" last="Brown"] – Brunswick – Radford
Athletic and strong, [player_tooltip player_id="192172" first="Makaila" last="Brown"] jumps off film with her shot blocking and ability to finish inside. She’s tough in the paint and is willing to battle with anyone that gets in her way. She can put the ball on the floor from 15-feet out and attack the rim and also has a soft touch from the mid-range. Look for Brown to average a double-double down on the coast and continue to raise her stock.
57. 6-3 PF [player_tooltip player_id="191967" first="Taylor" last="Cullinan"] – North Paulding – Alabama
Already a High Major commit, [player_tooltip player_id="191967" first="Taylor" last="Cullinan"] has been developing steadily. She’s got a college-ready body and has all the tools to have a true breakout senior season. Cullinan is extremely skilled, able to shoot from the perimeter and beyond the arc. She’s a good shot blocker and can rebound in traffic. Taylor has shown flashes throughout her career, dominating stretches at a time. She will need to improve her balance inside and add a mean streak to her game. Confidence in all her training and playing loose and aggressive will help her have a memorable final year.
63. 6-2 PF [player_tooltip player_id="118127" first="Taylor" last="Christmas"] – Southwest DeKalb
[player_tooltip player_id="118127" first="Taylor" last="Christmas"] produced at a high level every time I saw her this summer. She is a double-double machine with soft hands and an interesting skill set. She can bang inside and score with her back to the basket, but she’s also an exceptional three-point shooter that can really space the floor. Christmas is a skilled ballhandler when attacking the rack and can score through contact. She’s a very good player that colleges should be all over.
65. 6-0 W [player_tooltip player_id="192171" first="T’mya" last="Parker"] – North Clayton
My personal pick as maybe the best “sleeper” in the class, [player_tooltip player_id="192171" first="T’mya" last="Parker"] checks a ton of boxes. She’s a super athlete with outstanding length. She plays 1-5 on both sides of the floor. She can start her own fast breaks and go coast-to-coast. Parker impacts games in a variety of ways, but its her defense that really stands out. She lives in passing lanes and can erase shots in the paint. Offensively, she’s tough on the glass, knows how to get to the basket and can step out to hit the occasional three. Parker is too gifted physically and has shown more than enough with her skill package to not warrant some serious looks at the D-I level.
73. 5-11 F [player_tooltip player_id="194710" first="Tiara" last="Lewis"] – Osborne
Consistency has landed [player_tooltip player_id="194710" first="Tiara" last="Lewis"] in the Top 100 and she is getting better and better. A true combo-forward, [player_tooltip player_id="194710" first="Tiara" last="Lewis"] burns teams inside and out. She plays with physicality in the paint, able to clean the glass and score inside. She’s got nice footwork when attacking from the perimeter and can spin her way to the hoop. Lewis stretches the floor with her three-point shot as well. Defensively, she has shown the capability of defending 3-5 and can help out on guards. Her length makes her a dangerous defender that can jump passing lanes and score in transition.
76. 6-1 PF [player_tooltip player_id="188315" first="Maya" last="Jackson"] – Archer
[player_tooltip player_id="188315" first="Maya" last="Jackson"] is a rock-solid reliable post presence. She rebounds, defends and can score inside in a crowd. Jackson is physical enough to step in right now and log minutes in the college game. She’s willing to do the dirty work such as take charges and dive on loose balls. Her offensive package is continuing to expand. Jackson is a tough double-double threat that will open more eyes this season.
