Aja Holmes-6’0 PF (Luling HS) Austin Elite
Holmes just brings it, she has that mindset no matter what the situation is so watching her not only rebound on both ends, she has been doing that since I started watching her, as well as finishing strongly, that too, her hands and footwork got better each year and she showed a variety of moves and finishes as well as facing the basket for buckets
Chumani Chamberlain-5’10 SF (St Stephens & St Agnes School)
Chamberlain was labeled as a shooting guard yet her size and body may land her playing another position at the next level because she’s so strong and understands how to not only use her but create contact which she relishes because she finishes after the lick. She also rebounds on both ends
Emily Schaffer-5’10 SF (St Michael’s Catholic Academy HS)
Schaffer’s defense really stood out, she showed she could “man up” baseline to baseline as well as defend in the half-court but watching her on the boards was also a treat as she went into throwback mode and just battled for everything
Abigail Khader-5’8 PF (Sherman HS)
Khader was definitely a surprise when I saw a 5’8 PF listed yet let me hashtag her #THROWBACK because she understands positioning and boxing out, this enables her to rebound against those who are already around “the magic number” which is 6’0 and she’s strong enough to power inside and finish. Wait, she shoots the mid to long-range and showed me several reverse layups
Ashley Ngene-6’0 PF (Tompkins HS) Houston Skyrise Edmond
Ngene made her first Tip Sheet by me in middle school so I knew what was coming and after her strong comeback from an injury, she had a solid summer with her club team but she just has the desire to not settle, she rebounds strongly on both ends, is constantly moving without the ball and her defense is smothering but she also can score, facing the basket, off the dribble or different ways in the paint
Adelke Weade-5’10 SF (Vista Ridge HS) Austin Elite
Weade has just taken me away from where she was when I first saw her to what she has become and yeah she always could rebound but now she understands how to follow the ball off the rim and grab it where ever it comes off. She can score consistently in the paint, catches everything, and finishes contact and her defense is more than solid as her footwork is smooth enough to defend outside the paint
Kyrah Lermon-5’11 PF (Shadow Creek HS)
Lermon is “long and athletic” and remember what I always say, “that’s the base” but she did a good job attacking the rim from various angles and she also defended well, that includes playing the passing lane
DeAjia Brown-6’0 PF (Killeen Ellison HS) Austin Elite
Brown is strong and how can I put this, “makes her presence felt immediately” and when you can not only finish with authority, players hanging on you as you go up, as well as rebound the same way, no, she won’t be outworked, that’s something especially when she can ignite the break with the outlet and finish on the other end
