Senaida Barrientos Senaida Barrientos 5'7" | SG Smithsville | 2023 State TX -5’7 (Smithville HS) CTX
Barrientos was one of the show-stealers during my initial sighting of her at the Alamo City Hoops Girls Combine earlier in the season when she injured and I asked her was she able to continue and her response was “oh I’m coming back” and she did with a barrage of baskets. This time around, no injury but the baskets were dropping from everywhere, mid to long, off the dribble, she creates her shot under pressure for the pull-up or just drives by defenders with ease
Miyah Carter-5’9 (Cedar Park HS) Cy Fair
Carter gave me a great “first look” and the first thing that just jumped out right out at me was that she was “long and athletic” and once on the floor, she understood how to use that to her advantage as she does a good job creating her shot, she has a deceptive first step which is also long and it enables her to get to the rim and finish strongly, after contact. She also showed the midrange, she doesn’t force shots and she plays within herself yet she gets hers in the flow. She plays the passing lane and her upside is, OMG
Alexandria Brownlee-5’8 (Wagner HS) San Antonio Lady Hoops
Brownlee was left off the Top 100 by a clerical era from me and I told her I had her next time around, she smiled and said “that’s okay” because she’s a PLAYER and every time she steps on the court, whether up or down 20, she plays the same way and that’s what I like to see, not worrying about an irrelevant number yet her numbers are relevant as she scores off the dribble while sometimes punishing the defender as she takes them to the rim with her, she also does a good job with the midrange, it’s fluid and accurate
Brajha Herron-5’5 (Communication Arts HS)
Herron also had an injury during the Showcase and I also asked her “can you go” and her exact words, I think were “oh I’m going” and she came back in time to hit the winning the basket, a 15 footer. I can’t script certain things any better, she was creating her shot all day at the event as well as hitting the stop and pop in transition yet her athleticism also enabled her to attack multiple ways, by the way, she saw the floor as well
Madison Velez-5’7 (Brennan HS)
Velez sent messages early as she created her shot under pressure over and over but creating it and dropping it multiple times sent even more messages. Her pull-up jumper while being guarded was definitely a good tool because when you can set defenders up and elevate on your jumper and the jumper is accurate, you’re ahead of the game at this stage. Love her upside and desire
Lyah Neira-5’5 (Lee HS) Pro Skills San Antonio
Neira just went off in front of me at the Bigfoot Kingwood Classic a few weeks ago and her catch and shoot three-ball was one of the best in that tournament, guess what, nothing changed at the I-35 except I saw her mix it up even more. Yeah she still dropped the three, even some in the clutch but her shot is very nice and she understands how to set defenders up, yet the midrange was solid as well, she created and gave a shake here or the HEZ there to get wherever she wanted to nail it
Abigail Tomaski Abigail Tomaski 6'0" | SG Memorial | 2023 State TX -5’10 (Memorial HS) Just Play Elite
Tomaski has turned into a terror on the offensive end, remember I love big guards that can shoot it but more importantly, so do college coaches, and watching her add so much between her freshman and sophomore seasons is one of the reasons she was added to the PGH 2023 Top 100. She understands how to create her shot and the mid to long-range is hard to defend because she’s long and athletic and gets her shot off with ease. She also takes defenders off the dribble but with the jump she made, her upside hasn’t topped off
