Fall Exclusive: Week 1 Highlights Below is a list of standouts from the Fall Exclusive league. Many players stood out for their ability to impact the game. Here are a few and a breakdown/highlights of their game. [player_tooltip player_id="209605" first="Claire" last="Bjorge"] | 5’8 | De Pere 2024 Bjorge has an impressive display tonight as she showed many offensive moves and crafty finishes inside. Bjorge stood out for her ability to relocate on the three point line. It was so advanced so see her be able to set herself up to catch and shoot or fake and attack. She has a quick first step that gives her the chance to blow passes defenders toward the rim. Bjorge is a smart on-ball defender, and she has twitchy hands which allow her to strip the ball from opponents. She has great position on defense and showed tonight how much pressure she can apply on the ball. MaKenzie Drout | 5’9 | Kimberly 2023 Drout showed tremendous defensive upside today and pushed the ball up and down the court very well. She has smooth handles and ability to be an effective point guard or secondary guard. She impacts with her high energy and movement on the floor. Drout comes off of screens hard and is always ready to square up for the jumper. Her ball handling is rapidly improving and her fundamentals in general are on the upswing. Drought showed glimpses of a consistent perimeter shot. [player_tooltip player_id="157531" first="Avree" last="Antony"] | 5’9 | Sun Prairie 2023 Antony brings great intensity and resilience to the court. She moves effortlessly without the ball and really impacts in many ways. She’s a floor general off the ball and can knock down the perimeter basket from deep. Her explosive first step and ability to get to the spot with limited dribbles is impressive. Antony is a prolific pure scorer as well as a big time shot maker. She has the range to score at all three levels, and is especially impressive off the catch and when stepping into her shot. Defensively, Antony can guard 1-3 and contest full court the entire game. A true workhorse, it is clear Antony’s motor is high. [player_tooltip player_id="155768" first="Aaleyah" last="Jones"] | 5’6 | Riverside University 2021 Jones creates space for herself very well, and she has the burst of speed to dart past gambling defenders. Jones reads the on-ball defender better than most in her class. Jones surprised me tonight with her ability to defend and pass. Known for her offensive scoring ability, Jones was really able to get her teammates involved today. Her drive and kick was super tough to defend and she utilized the bounce pass effectively. Jones has a good nose for the ball and saw many deflections in both games. She has great footwork on defense and she wasn’t afraid of contact in the lane when fighting for boards. [player_tooltip player_id="156066" first="Julianna" last="Ouimette"] | 5’10 | Lakeland Union 2023 Ouimette is just a phenomenal athlete with so much upside. Each time she competes, Ouimette displays so much versatility and skill. She’s an exciting combo guard that can play either guard position, depending on the line up. She has great positional skill as well that makes her tough to defend when going downhill. She has a smooth touch around the rim that really helps her finish, and she is great at attacking from right to left. She is clearly a high IQ player, as seen from her off ball movement and ability to see and read gaps. [player_tooltip player_id="156073" first="Sammi" last="Beyer"] | 5’7 | Appleton East 2023 Beyer oozes confidence on the floor and it is so exciting to watch. She uses her strength on the perimeter to create angles for herself, and she uses it defensively too. Beyer is a fantastic scorer up close; she gets to the rim well and finishes or draws the foul. A clear leader and floor general, Beyer has fabulous court vision and technical skills. Her handles are clean and precise, rarely causing turnovers for her squad. Her shot selection is elite and she can create her own shot off the dribble when her team needs a bucket. She pushes the ball in transition and did exceptionally well finding her post players on the block. [player_tooltip player_id="171810" first="Aaliyah" last="Smith"] | 5’7 | Madison La Follette 2022 Smith is an incredibly athletic guard with very high upside. The number one player in her class is one of the most explosive and athletic players in all of high school at the moment. She is physical and welcomes contact in the lane- she is not one to shy away from contact. She plays with tremendous composure on the floor and sees it all. Her court vision and ability to thread the needle makes her stick out even more. She loves to get her teammates involved even though she could take over the game on the offensive end. A player who will put up so many points each night, Smith is a three way player with extreme versatility.
