Hidden Gems Watchlist: Bend

She has active hands and is an aggressive defender both on and off the ball. She tends to let her feet leave the ground a bit, which can be both a blessing and a curse- however it generally results in a steal or a blocked shot, even against much bigger opponents.  This makes her a great defensive strength for her team, which she rounds out by being a consistent under pressure finisher on fast breaks as well. Definitely an underrated player that will excel as she continues to develop <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158562" first="Olivia" last="Nye"] - Bend 2023 - PG/SG</strong></em> Nye is a really satisfying player to watch. She is smart and, as I would describe her, a “right place at the right time” type of teammate. Whether it is for a steal, accepting a pass from a teammate, or delivering one for the assist, she is always looking to find the next most opportunistic court position, and this really benefits her team. Having this type of court awareness and anticipation so early on in her high school career is very promising. She also has a beautiful three point shot and is overall just a really fluid and exciting player to watch. <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158535" first="Peyton" last="Gardner"] - Bend 2022 - PG</strong></em> This is a player that truly waits for no one. On both sides of the floor, she is extremely quick in all directions and doesn’t ever let up on her hustle. Defensively, she is aggressive and pretty handsy, which she uses to overwhelm her opponents. She delivers beautiful passes of all makes and models - behind the back, long, direct, etc. - and effortlessly combines the flashiness of the game with the efficiency of her team’s offense. Gardner is definitely an all around, high energy player that has a lot to bring to the game every time she sees the court.
