With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the top forwards in Class A:
Grace Hegerle Grace Hegerle 5'10" | PF Jamestown | 2021 State ND , Jamestown
Hegerle led the WDA in scoring last year, averaging 17 points and six rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field. She’s a good shooter in the mid-range and can finish over length at a high level. Hegerle will have the greenest of green lights this winter as she’ll be the leader of a Jamestown team that is replacing all but two players. If she improves her free throw shooting (59 percent in 2019-20), she’ll be a 20-plus point-per-game scorer.
Taylor Fey Taylor Fey 6'0" | PF Fargo Davies | 2021 State ND , Fargo Davies
Fey was one of the best players in the EDC last season, earning all-state honors while helping Fargo Davies reach the state semifinals after winning the EDC Tournament championship. She’s long, athletic, active and skilled and her ability to produce consistently gives the Eagles one of the best frontcourt duos in the state.
Jaidyn Feist, West Fargo Sheyenne
Feist enjoyed a strong junior season, averaging nearly 14 points and 10 boards for a solid Mustangs team. She’s one of the most efficient players in the EDC, possessing the skill and athleticism to score in the low and mid post areas of the floor. She’s a strong interior defender who should deliver double-double production this winter.
Logan Nissley Logan Nissley 6'0" | CG Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND , Bismarck Century
Nissley was one of the best players in the WDA as a freshman, averaging 13 points and eight rebounds while leading the team in blocks and knocking down nearly 40 percent of her 3-pointers. She’s got Player-of-the-Year potential as a sophomore for a Patriots team that will go into the year as the favorite to win a state title.
Moriku Hakim Moriku Hakim 6'2" | C Fargo Shanley | 2021 State ND , Fargo Shanley
Hakim enjoyed a breakout junior year helping Shanley reach the state title game before the season was cancelled. Hakim averaged 13 points and nine rebounds per game while converting on better than 50 percent of her shot attempts. She’s an athletic, active forward who rebounds well on both ends, can create her own shot in the paint and finish at a high level.
