Prep Girls Hoops Texas 250 Expo Takes Off with 2025
This was my first Prep Girls Hoops event to actually cover and I knew I’d be busy with over 150 players signed up, the most in one session however I managed to get something on over 90% of the players in attendance multiple times so I’ve learned to master multiple courts over the years and the main thing I looked for was consistency before I could give an honest evaluation on many of these players who I hadn’t seen or seen in a while, like seniors Caitlin Kobiske and Canai McPherson who made one of my Tip Sheets 2 or 3 years ago or those who are entering high school and made the 2024 Watchlist after their first sighting, Nyla Wold Nyla Wold 6'0" | SG Katy | 2024 State TX , Ashna Tambe Ashna Tambe 5'7" | CG Hockaday | 2024 State TX , and Victoria Barrera Victoria Barrera 5'9" | CG Amarillo | 2024 State TX and all three showed me not only how right I was to add them but they are even better than that initial sighting. One thing I failed to do was identify all of the 2025 players in attendance who signed up as 2024 but I have three to start off with
Katelyn Evans-5’7 G (Lebanon Trail) @k_evans_14
Evans was identified as a #D1Lock when I saw her in the 3rd grade playing against a solid middle school team,” it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” and she has simply continued to do it and a college coach commented on what a great freshman season she was going to have and I told him “yeah next year”. She’s played on the inside most of her career, which has helped develop her “mental toughness” because she isn’t afraid. She attacked multiple ways and finished after contact yet what was even more impressive was her midrange game and handling the ball in the open court
Claudia Keene-5’4 PG (The Woodlands)
Keene has a keen sense for the game as she plays within herself, handled the ball under pressure, and already does a good job of running the one, keep in mind she was against seasoned high school players and watching her decision making as well as her ability to not only see the floor but make the tough pass, like threading the needle between defenders or leading her teammate with a pass on the break, loving her upside
Daphne Zuniga-5’5 G ( Churchill) dzuniga_22
Zuniga jumped out right at me with her athleticism and playing the passing lane, something I always look at from players is how well they do things instinctively, and anticipating the pass at this stage is big but I also look at how players react, she switched on defense, she followed her shot, she understood where the ball was coming off the boards for rebounds yet she also showed she could score off the dribble as well as creating her shot
Be ready for a barrage of evaluations, the talent was definitely on hand and I probably have over 130 players I’ll be dropping on a variety of stories from this amazing event, and remember, contrary to what you may think or hear, no one and I mean NO ONE does what I do or have DONE @girlzprepreport
