Shooting is one of the many skills that can be transferred at all levels, as the ability to sink a shot at any given point and time proves to be immeasurably valuable in the game of basketball. This summer, we were shown a wide range of shooters with skill all across the many AAU programs that Oregon players were a part of. [player_tooltip player_id="204574" first="Allie" last="Hueckman"] is an eclectic athlete whose amazing jumping skills from other sports translates into her jump-shot when she is out on the hardwood. [player_tooltip player_id="158488" first="Liv" last="Knapp"] is a microwave-type scorer who can heat up quickly and without any warning. [player_tooltip player_id="158475" first="Audrey" last="Roden"] has shown throughout the summer that she is a determined and deadly perimeter shooter. [player_tooltip player_id="158481" first="Taylin" last="Smith"] has continued to develop her offensive game, which is based around her ability to stroke it from deep. [player_tooltip player_id="158474" first="Addison" last="Wedin"] provided for some big moments for the Cal Stars this summer, showcasing her ability to knock down the deep ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="204574" first="Allie" last="Hueckman"] 2021 5’10" SG Oregon Elite/Burns HS - Allie had quite the summer, as she was able to show off her shooting skills in a wide variety of ways for Oregon Elite Gold. The Eastern Washington signee is an elite athlete who uses her jumping skills from track and field and volleyball to boost her jump-shot, quite literally. She raises up over defenders with her significant vertical and sinks the shot with great accuracy. She single handedly won games for Oregon Elite using her offensive repertoire.
[player_tooltip player_id="158488" first="Liv" last="Knapp"] 2021 5’6" SG Oregon Triple/All-In/Liberty HS - Liv is a sharpshooter who had her most prolific offensive output recently, at the EOT NW Gate City Challenge in which she scored 82 points in four games - including a 27 point outburst versus Cal Stars in which she sank five three-pointers. She doesn’t need a lot of room to feel comfortable enough to let it go, she is also formidable in the pick and roll setting where she dribble penetrates and stops on a dime to hit the mid-range jumper.
[player_tooltip player_id="158475" first="Audrey" last="Roden"] 2021 5’9" SG Cal Stars/West Linn HS - Roden was one of the biggest surprises for the Cal Stars this season and was also one of their biggest targets alongside the arc. The West Linn guard had several games where she made multiple three-pointers - more recently she sank six from deep versus All-In in Pocatello. Roden has a quick release and is a high volume shooter whose confidence gets greater as she sinks more. Was one of the main offensive cogs for a loaded Stars squad.
[player_tooltip player_id="158481" first="Taylin" last="Smith"] 2021 5’5" PG Upper Left Legion/Liberty HS - The silky smooth guard for Upper Left Legion has always been noted as a smooth shooter, as she has the handles to get off her shot and does it with a certain swagger and style. She has a silky release and is incredibly poised when the ball is in her hands. She continued to develop into the overall floor general, but make no mistake - her offensive game is still very much wrapped around her scoring abilities as she makes it look easy out there.
[player_tooltip player_id="158474" first="Addison" last="Wedin"] 2021 5’11" SG Cal Stars/La Salle HS - Wedin was another weapon, cornerstone for a very deep Cal Stars squad, as she provided her shooting abilities in stretches for the program based out of Orinda, CA. Her role was to come in and be an offensive spark plug - for instance, against Colorado Premier and top ranked 2022 player Lauren Betts. She caught fire at the end of the game, scoring 10 points as she sank two three’s and provided offense in a game where it was sparse.
