The Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Top 250 Expo was full of talent from all corners of the state. What if we broke it down to a Michigan Top 250 East vs. West game? I started by looking at the entire field of players, but there were too many stars and exceptional performances that way. Instead, I went by class. I hesitate to call it an "All-Star" game, simply because I can only go by the things that I alone witnessed that day, not the total body of work of every player. Nevertheless, I came up with East and West teams for the class of 2022. Let’s see how they stack up. Enjoy, and please let us know how you think the matchup would play out!!

EAST

STARTERS
[player_tooltip player_id="147743" first="Maeve" last="St. John"] (PG, Howell)
I had people coming across 3 courts to tell me how well she was playing. Howell has an elite ball handler and floor general.
[player_tooltip player_id="147722" first="Jordan" last="Wright"] (PG, Ann Arbor Huron)
There was nobody more impressive at the Top 250 than Wright. She was able to create a look at the rim at will throughout the day.
[player_tooltip player_id="147726" first="Zoey" last="Persails"] (SG, Frankenmuth)
Persails is a true team player and an extreme value to any team she plays on. She showed a willingness to win the hustle points at the Top 250.
Madison Wardell (PF, Detroit Edison)
Wardell was spectacular in Grand Rapids. Quite frankly, there was nothing that she didn’t do at an elite level, from handling the ball to rebounding. A D1 team will get an absolute steal with Wardell.
[player_tooltip player_id="147786" first="Jasmine" last="Hadley"] (PF, Davison)
It was refreshing to watch Hadley use her silky smooth athleticism under the rim. She walled up and played good vertical defense. Hadley can break out in transition as well.
RESERVES
Olivia Bussell (CG, Monroe)
Bussell was one of, if not the most, intriguing prospect at the event. Her speed is a flat out weapon, and she knows how to use it. She caused chaos on defense and prevented transition buckets by hustling back on D.
[player_tooltip player_id="147782" first="Anna" last="Fernandez"] (PG, Plymouth Christian)
I just really liked the way that Fernandez played the game. She was under control, confident, and effective throughout the morning.

WEST

[player_tooltip player_id="179079" first="Hannah" last="Schroeder"] (PG, Allendale)
I realized at the Top 250 that I’d been under ranking Schroeder. She’s an efficient point to say the least. It seems like every guard near Grand Rapids, including Schroeder, can bury it from behind the arc.
[player_tooltip player_id="147728" first="Alaina" last="Diaz"] (CG, Hudsonville)
Diaz was tremendous on both ends of the floor at the Top 250. Her speed and quickness on defense definitely made a difference. Her ability to play on or off the ball offensively was impressive.
[player_tooltip player_id="147742" first="Alaila" last="Walker"] (CG, Kalamazoo Central)
Walker is as explosive of a player as advertised. She can score, and do it in a hurry. Walker is a smooth athlete that glides up and down the court quickly.
[player_tooltip player_id="147776" first="Ella" last="Miller"] (PF, East Lansing)
Miller continues to display a skill set conducive to playing at the next level. She can play outside-in or inside-out and uses solid footwork on both ends.
[player_tooltip player_id="227296" first="Zoe" last="Spoelman"] (PF, Grand Haven)
Spoelman was terrific defensively. She moved well laterally, allowing her to cover a lot of ground in the lane. Spoelman was terrific setting the screen and rolling off it toward the rim.
RESERVES
[player_tooltip player_id="227316" first="Elizabeth" last="Pollion"] (SG, Petoskey)
This prospect keeps quietly improving and getting the job done. Right now, she’d be a steal for some college coach.
Abigail Rey (SF, Midland Dow)
Midland could go either way, but for the purpose of the article, Rey is going to the West. She has such a well rounded game. Rey’s ability to bury a jumper from anywhere has to be accounted for by the D. She’s an exceptional passer as well.
