The Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 expo in Grand Rapids brought some of the best players from the state together under one roof to play three games each on a beautiful fall morning here in Michigan. I was lucky enough to work the camp all day coaching games on court 3. Because of that I can only speak for players that played their games on that court. With that in mind, here our my Seven Upperclassman Standouts from an outstanding event.

[player_tooltip player_id="138300" first="Kenzie" last="Bowers"] 5’9 Kent City 2021-The Illinois State commit was my favorite player at camp for two reasons, the first being she did not have to be there. She is committed to a good division one program; she has nothing to prove to college coaches or scouts, but not only did she attend but she also played hard ands was a great teammate throughout the day. The second reason is clear after about a minute of watching her play, and that is that she can flat out play. She handles the ball with ease and gets to the basket under control so she can either make a play for a teammate or score herself. Kenzie is also an outstanding outside shooter and has a great feel for the game when her team needs her to score and when she can just facilitate.

[player_tooltip player_id="147717" first="Madisen" last="Wardell"] 6’1 Detroit Edison Prep 2022-It is extremely easy to see why Madisen has so much division one attention already, including offers from Michigan State, DePaul, Oakland, Temple and Eastern Michigan to name a few. She is long and skilled, to have a player be able to rebound and take the ball up the floor at 6’1 and make good decisions with the ball is something any coach in American would want. She showed a nice one dribble pull up and three-point range while also scoring inside with a soft tough with either hand and rebounding well on both sides of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="138319" first="Mackenzie" last="Egger"] 5’11 Mt Pleasant 2021-Mackenzie was all over the floor in the game on the court I was coaching at. She scored inside with a nice up and under move, she took defenders off the dribble, she knocked down shots and she is versatile enough to guard any body on the floor inside or outside. She is long and strong and makes good decisions with the basketball in her hands and is an excellent passer when she is not scorer herself.
<img class="wp-image-209285 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/47_Kayiona-WillisPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="186" height="186" />
[player_tooltip player_id="28016" first="Kayiona" last="Willis"] 5’5 Southfield A&T 2021-One word, Attack! Kayiona attacks the basket, attacks on defense, she just attacks. Handles the ball well and can get to the basket with ease and finish against much taller players, while she can also knock down the outside shot with great consistency. However, she is much more than just a scorer. She is an excellent passer and ran the pick n roll wonderfully with [player_tooltip player_id="138329" first="Emily" last="Dixon"], 6’1 2021 Chippewa Valley.
<img class="wp-image-209262 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/21_-Zoey-PersailPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="178" height="178" />
[player_tooltip player_id="147726" first="Zoey" last="Persails"] 5’9 Frankenmuth 2022-Excellent defender who moves her feet well on the ball while also playing great help side defense as well and gets in passing lanes. She is a tremendous three-point shooter and she shoots it with confidence, and rightfully so. Smart basketball player who moves well without the ball and really understands the game.
<img class="wp-image-209269 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/31_Olivia-KubikPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="192" height="192" />
[player_tooltip player_id="138354" first="Olivia" last="Kubik"] 5’5 Henry Ford 2021-Has an extremely high basketball IQ, and a great motor as she plays hard all the time. She handles the ball well and is a good passer. She got inside a bit and scored at the basket while also knocking down a lot of outside shots. She plays good defense, talks on both ends of the floor and is just a smart hardnosed basketball player.
<img class="wp-image-209264 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/23_Abigail-ReyPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="201" height="201" />
Abigail Rey 5’10 Midland Down 2022-Abby is one of those players that every good team needs on it to be hugely successful. She may not lead you in scorer or blow by you with a super quick live ball move, but she just makes plays. She is smart and tough, but make no question about it, she is highly skilled. She can guard multiple positions on the floor, she can shoot it from the outside and she is an excellent passer.
