Continue ReadingI wrote a preview of the top high school squad in the Houston area on my website and I didn’t say much because if you follow girl’s basketball or listen to your friends, this is probably one of the few times I’d agree with them but basically they’re agreeing with me because when you have one of the top backcourts in the country, Kyndall Hunter Kyndall Hunter 5'8" | SG Cypress Creek | 2021 State #23 Nation TX and Rori Harmon Rori Harmon 5'7" | PG Cypress Creek | 2021 State #12 Nation TX , on the same team it’s going to be hard to contain them, especially since I said Harmon was a #D1Lock at 10 years old and Hunter around 11 so there isn’t much more to say about the Texas signees at least in this story so I’ll drop something on the role players and bring them back on the standouts versus Langham Creek
2021
Haleen Harris-5’10 G/SF
Harris has always been a joy for me to watch because she forces nothing and plays within herself understanding how to contribute by doing things that may not necessarily wind up on a stat sheet yet play huge parts in the team concept but she does have a nice jumper, she does play good defense and she does play the passing lane and that in itself speaks volumes
Ri’Yah Francis-6’2 PF/C
Francis already has a “college-ready body” and she will be a better player at the next level because of the physicality, either taking or giving, I used that because it’s that time of year and there is nothing like the Holidays which also means she doesn’t care, on the court, because she never takes a play off. Watching her pound in the paint, rebound on both ends, run the floor and even step outside of the paint to defend are things she has worked on since I first saw her in middle school and that work-ethic will translate over to that next level
Taylor Jackson Taylor Jackson 6'1" | C Cy Creek | 2021 State TX -6’2 P
Jackson was in the 5th or 6th grade with a Katy Rebels team when I first saw her and she made my Tip Sheet after the event. Unlike many of these “experts” who fabricate, I did not say she was a #D1Lock yet with my astute knowledge of evaluating talent, I knew with her size she would definitely play at the next level so watching her progress on the court over the years and just playing solid, giving a hunnid percent on both ends, not to leave fin fishing strongly with both hands are all assets for college players
2022
Trinity Santasiero-5’7 SG
Santasiero will play a huge role in the team’s success next season as she’s a tenured varsity player who has been through the runs and pressure plus she can flat out shoot the long ball but over the years, she has evolved into more than just a 3 point shooter. She understands how to create her shot, she has developed a solid mid-range pull-up jumper but her ballhandling has improved and that is one of the reasons she can take defenders off the dribble
Jasmyn Jackson-6’0 F
Jackson is “long and athletic” and I call that the BASE and if you pay attention to the numerous times I say it you might grasp it because she plays the passing lane well, she handles the ball well and she has good speed so that all equates into layup possibilities going the other way but she also has good timing to block, deflect and (or) alter shots
2023
Krishawn Lee Krishawn Lee 5'10" | SG Cypress Creek | 2023 State #47 Nation TX -6’0 SG
Lee will also play a major role in how well the team does, she has good size, understands how to create her shot and her upside is what I’m looking at because when she takes on that bigger part, I’m seeing numbers galore and one thing I know is that college coaches love big guards that can shoot
2024
Danielle Ruffin-5’5 G
Ruffin’s name kept flashing me back to the Temptations yet her desire to do something on the court was impressive as she came out with SWAG, that’s understandable when you’re the understudy and have talent but her upside is scary because she has speed, in fact, n extra gear that she applies on both ends of the floor so whether it’s taking defenders off the dribble or playing that passing lane, she definitely will be added to the WATCHLIST
