Fulshear
Ese Ogbevire Ese Ogbevire 5'7" | PG Fulshear | 2023 State TX -5’6 PG
Ogbevire was added to the 2023 Watch List after I saw her play one game in the playoffs last season because I’m that good and so was she and her EXPLOSIVENESS was one of the reasons. She’s even more explosive plus her court vision is one of the main reasons they came away with the win, that and her long ball shooting, especially her catch and shoot combined with her quick release, as she toyed with a triple-double but watching her improvement, especially when she basically had to run the point the whole game which was impressive
Kennedy Hill-5’11 SG/SF
Hill was definitely a pleasant surprise, she’s long and athletic and that’s where I start on many of my evals yet I enjoyed watching her understand how to make things happen without the ball in her hand and whether it was defending, reading the switch after the pick or one of the things I love to talk about over and over, playing the passing lane but she also showed she could score, whether it was putting it on the floor to attack the basket or just creating her shot under pressure for the midrange
Memorial
Riley McCloskey Riley McCloskey 5'3" | PG Memorial | 2023 State TX -5’5 PG
McCloskey continues to expand her game but thinking about the first time seeing her in the 7th grade playing against seniors has me beaming with self-satisfaction because I knew what was coming. She’s heady, understands how to control the tempo yet she also pushed it a few times and even more importantly hit her teammates for assists. She can shoot the long ball, create her shot while being defended and score off the midrange but she did a very good job at attacking the basket and scoring with either hand. Even more important is her poise under pressure as well as upside which is scary
Abigail Tomaski Abigail Tomaski 6'0" | SG Memorial | 2023 State TX -6’0 SG
Tomaski’s drive, not just attacking the rim which she did numerous times to start the game off, but the drive to be the best she can be just jumps right at you when you look into her eyes, yes I’m that good and watching players “reactions” as well as when they do things “instinctively” is one of my extra senses and with her size and ability to shoot the long ball, I’m trying to envision just how good she’ll be and there’s no cap. She took defenders at will but she also showed the pull-up jumper which she can knock down from mid to long-range
