The High School season has kicked off. We will check in with teams all around the state with an outlook on their season and a breakdown of some of their top players. This week we take a look at Palmer Trinity in Miami, FL.
Team Outlook
– Last year, Palmer Trinity finished with a 16-6 record.
– They won the District Championship and advanced to the Regional Quarter-Finals.
– They return 8 of 11 players from this squad, including four starters.
Widely considered one of the top Class of 2023 point guards in the state of Florida, Montes has already received a major D1 offer from the University of South Florida. She is a 5’10, highly-skilled, explosive point guard that is a big-time competitor and a lockdown defender. She eclipsed 1,000 career Varsity points last season.
Jade burst onto the high school basketball scene last year as an 8th grader and was voted 3rd team All Dade County by the Miami Herald. Jade is a high IQ, athletic combo guard who can knock down 3’s, finishes well in transition, and is a defensive playmaker.
Annalise is a powerful forward with great athletic ability and a high b-ball IQ. Her explosiveness and aggression are a force for the Falcons on the offensive and defensive boards. Ana has the potential to have a breakout season this year.
Angelina is hyper skilled, athletic combo guard that has emerged as one of the top 2025 guards in all of Miami. Last year as a 7th grader on Varsity, Angelina played a crucial role in coming off the bench for the Falcons, and had multiple double-figure scoring games.
The Miami-Dade county area has been dominated by Miami Country Day, Miami Senior HS, Norland and a couple others. Palmer Trinity might be one of the youngest teams in the state, if not the youngest. In addition to Montes, Leon, Lindsay, and Deleon – look for Isabella Porto, Emrie PedrazaEmriePedraza

, Mati Veloso, Melina Ruiz, and Amanda Kaplan to round out the roster as solid role players. The team does not have a Junior (Class of 2022) or Senior (Class of 2021) on the roster with the squad consisting of one 8th grader (class of 2025), five Freshmen (class of 2024), and two Sophomores (class of 2023) that make up the Varsity squad. Led by Head Coach George Montes, look for Palmer Trinity to be very competitive this season and set up to be very good for the next few seasons.
