John Cooper hosted The Village School last week, which would have been ideal if I was cloned as Cooper has talented ’23 [player_tooltip player_id="134042" first="Jorynn" last="Ross"] who dropped 18 and had a double-double while The Village boasts a star-studded cast just coming off a TAPPS-6A State Championship last season, [player_tooltip player_id="65876" first="Jada" last="Malone"] (Texas A&M) Tymberlin Crisswell (SMU) and Aiken Semones (Hardin Simmons) while ’22 [player_tooltip player_id="135359" first="Sydney" last="Ward"] and ’23 [player_tooltip player_id="96125" first="RyLee" last="Grays"] are among the Top 100 for their respective classes, both have BCS offers on the table but the talent is all over the various classes in the area TABC
I think I’ll catch St Pius hosting John Cooper this Thursday, the Panthers have ’22 [player_tooltip player_id="158681" first="Breelyn" last="Sanborn"] as well as one of the top freshmen in the state Zachara Perkins but over the weekend, I did have a chance to see St Agnes and even though a couple of key players, Abbey Lord and Chinelo Umeh were out, I definitely saw some talented players in action. Lord is coming off a breakout club season, right team, the right situation while the ultra-athletic Umeh left me speechless year as she’s also a track star but here are some of the standouts

Ella Smith-5’7 PG/SG
Smith is smooth and under control junior, she showed that during the club season, and what I enjoy about her game is that she plays within herself and can get hers in the flow but she also can control the tempo, fast or slow, and being vocal on the floor always helps when you’re running the 1, that and making the right decisions, check and double-check but her mid to long-range keeps the defense honest

Jordan Jones-6’0 C
Jones is a talented junior that’s both strong and athletic. She rebounds strongly, on both ends of the court and can finish after contact plus she defends baseline to baseline or inside the paint but her energy stays the same no matter what the score is, that’s always a good sign but so is her upside
Sammy Meyers-5’10 PG/SG
Meyers has been showing me she could shoot the ball since her middle school days, early middle school and nothing has changed as the senior can drop the mid to long with players hanging on her and she can also hit the clutch shots when you need them
Madeline Webster-5’9 PF
Webster is a talented junior that showed she could create her shot and either take defenders off the dribble or shoot the midrange

Natalie Messa-5’9 PF/SF/PG
Messa is listed at multiple positions because she actually does play multiple positions and let me add SG because her mid to long-range was impressive as well. She takes defenders off the dribble, she finishes multiple ways, including off-balance as well as with contact but she rebounds on the offensive end and gets putbacks or the other end where she can take the ball the length of the floor and score or hit teammates on the money, that’s where the PG comes in but her energy trickles down to her teammates but her senior leadership stood out as well
