I’ll drop part 2 on the area 2024 players maybe later today, I’ll be keeping tabs on the other classes but tonight’s big game, for me, will be Barbers Hill at Clear Springs
Gwendlyn McGrew Gwendlyn McGrew 6'0" | CG Pasadena Memorial | 2024 State TX
McGrew is making the adjustment nicely and the great thing is that she came in knowing how to play multiple positions but she can roll with the 1 through 5 because of her size and athleticism but that stroke, from the NBA range to mid-range to home on the range, she can fill it up and let’s not talk about a mismatch waiting to happen as she takes defenders with ease to the basket, rebounds and plays the passing lane
Ma’Riya Vincent Ma’Riya Vincent 6'0" | SF Cy Springs | 2024 State TX
Vincent comes in dropping double-doubles off the top and I don’t see it stopping because she’s “long and athletic” I call that the base and she rounds all four for home runs because she anticipates very well, equates to playing the passing lane and when she steals it, you can almost forget about it because she something to deal with in the open court, well on the court period
Kendall Sneed Kendall Sneed 5'7" | CG Hardin Jefferson | 2024 State TX
Sneed joins 2022 #1 Ashlon Jackson Ashlon Jackson 5'10" | SG Hardin Jefferson | 2022 State #22 Nation TX as the firepower heats up with her lighting the match. She’s scoring at ease, she’s scoring in the flow and she’s scoring in droves and her transition has come smoothly, mainly because she was thrown into the heart over the summer playing up. This doesn’t work for every player, don’t get it twisted but she has the mindset and the maturity which helped make it work
Heather Baymon Heather Baymon 5'6" | PG Langham Creek | 2024 State TX
Baymon has one of the best “stop and pop” jumpers in the state, right now and watching her “catlike” defense is just fun to see because she reads the floor like an All-Pro cornerback and once she gets it, she’s gone, her blazing speed in the open court or the explosive first step are two big offensive tools that help set her game off yet that trapping defense is smothering
Nicolette Polocheck Nicolette Polocheck 6'0" | PF Memorial | 2024 State TX
Polocheck is a two-sport star, she also plays volleyball so she comes in the first game, arrived in the second half after a volleyball game and plays strongly, then gets 8 OFFENSIVE rebounds in the second game, and then she turns around and grabs 9 in the most recent as she waits on getting into basketball shape, I’m labeling her as one of the top rebounders in the area right now
