Basketball players in Michigan are sort of stuck in the midst of a 3 week limbo due to the pandemic. Season is delayed for 3 weeks, but they players aren’t currently allowed to play in any showcases or camps. What if? What if Coach Dell Johnson (who did valiantly try to put on a showcase for the players during the delay) was allowed to run an event? An event similar to Let’s Get Ready would be lights out. What if Prep Hoops was allowed to put together a camp to keep players fresh? An event the likes of the Top 250 would be exciting to say the least. How about another David Barns Memorial type of camp? The talent would be there. Who would we have like to have seen at these camps or showcases? Well, here’s 10 players that I would have been itching to watch play.

[player_tooltip player_id="175810" first="Emma" last="Costen"] (2021, PF, Hudsonville)
Costen is as unique as they come as far as skill sets. I’m not even comfortable really giving her a position, because I really feel like she could play anywhere on the court. Costen can take advantage of almost any matchup with her ability to play inside-out or outside-in.
[player_tooltip player_id="138310" first="Alex" last="Long"] (2021, SG, Davison)
Long is an underrated game changer in the back court. She is one of the more exciting shooters to grace the prospect rankings in the senior class. Long would be must see at a showcase or camp during the delay.
[player_tooltip player_id="138358" first="Alexis" last="Sermak"] (2021, CG, Okemos)
Sermak would be a great watch at showcase right now. She’s a pretty explosive player that has an aggressive offensive mindset. Sermak can play on or off the ball and can score in a variety of ways.
[player_tooltip player_id="179087" first="Adelaide" last="Douglass"] (2022, C, Mattawan)
Douglass had a very impressive grassroots season. She has a very high ceiling and showed this summer that she could be an elite post player in the class of 2022. Douglass uses her strength to dominate the paint and enforce her will.
[player_tooltip player_id="178874" first="Kerrigan" last="Howdeshell"] (2022, PG, Lake Fenton)
Howdeshell is like a mix between the old and the new. She’s a solid floor general that sets the offense and gets the ball in the right spot. Howdeshell also has some new age shooting and scoring pop needed at the point guard spot.
[player_tooltip player_id="147717" first="Madisen" last="Wardell"] (2022, PF, Detroit Edison)
We saw Wardell at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250, and we sure are glad we did. She’s one of the most underrated prospects in the midwest, mark my words. Wardell can’t just do a little of everything, she can do a lot of everything.
[player_tooltip player_id="190710" first="Ava" last="Perry"] (2023, PG, Ann Arbor Skyline)
Perry has a lot of potential as a lead guard. She can play fast, pushing the ball with the pass or the dribble. Perry plays downhill offensively, looking for opportunities to attack.
[player_tooltip player_id="189278" first="Janae" last="Tyler"] (2023, C, Holt)
Tyler could end up as an elite post prospect. She’s long and athletic, and a real difference maker in the paint. Tyler makes a difference on both ends as well. She plays vertical and rebounds the ball high.
