Not Too Early I-Meck Conference Preview

The I-Meck conference is a loaded conference. They have great coaches, along with talented players who should be seen and recognized. The rising seniors who have already committed to play in college [player_tooltip player_id="217538" first="Caroline" last="Swartz"] (Rollins College), Neveah Caldwell (USC Upstate), [player_tooltip player_id="116877" first="Tanajah" last="Hayes"] (Florida International), and [player_tooltip player_id="116888" first="Amhyia" last="Moreland"] (Old Dominion). Outside of them here is who you should know: [player_tooltip player_id="217523" first="Leah" last="Barringer"]: The 5’9 senior guard from Vance high school was a big part of the reason why as a #7 seed the team was able to upset their way to the state championship game this last season. She is a long guard/small forward who led her team in scoring and rebounding. She harasses whoever she is in charge of guarding on defense. She is a tough kid who will bring a lot to the next level. She plays AAU for the Lady Phoenix organization. Kennedy Simpson: The 6’1 senior power forward might be the most improved player coming out of Mallard Creek high school. She has gained an amount of confidence that puts her on this list. She is a long and athletic forward. She can knock down the mid-range, and is working on her 3 point shot. She needs to rebound better for her size, but with another year at high school that should come. Once she gets some weight on her with a strength coach at the next level, she will be a very nice player. She plays AAU for the Lady Team Charlotte organization. [player_tooltip player_id="158315" first="Trinity" last="Moreland"]: The 6’2 junior center from Vance high school was a co-state champion this last season and much like her older sister (previously mentioned), Trinity is a handful down low. She can take a hit and finish through contact. She uses her size and build to get the position she wants, where she has nice touch around the rim. She is a good shot blocker, she stays straight up with not a lot of swinging down, or trying to swat shots. As she continues to get into better shape, and stronger she is going to make a nice prospect in the future. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization. [player_tooltip player_id="219869" first="Halle" last="Chaffin"]: The 5’10 junior small forward from West Charlotte high school was just a sophomore when she was named team captain. She has improved in every stat since her freshman season. She lead her team in double doubles this season with 6. She rebounds well on both ends of the floor, and defensively can guard on the perimeter and in the post. I think with more time her defense will only get better, and she will become a better post defender. She is not a 3 point shooter, she is more of a slasher, and gets to the free throw line…so more of an old fashioned 3 point player! She has plenty of time to keep developing and getting better, she is someone to keep an eye on. Taylor Dunn: The 5’5 junior shooting guard from North Meck high school is a hustle player with a high motor! She is all over the court on both ends of the floor. She is not the most consistent 3 point shooter yet, but she can shoot it. She can get to the rim and she can shoot the mid range pull up. She is a feisty defender who is not scared to back down, she plays much bigger than 5’5. She is tough, and is someone to watch the next 2 years. [player_tooltip player_id="116906" first="Samyha" last="Suffren"]: The 5’7 sophomore guard has already made a name for herself. She knocks down the open 3 ball, gets to the rim and finishes, and she has good court vision and likes to share the ball. Defensively she is athletic and can defend well on the perimeter. She plays hard and is a tough player. She has had 7 games as a freshman where she has scored 20+ points. The one thing she has to get better at moving forward is rebounding. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization. [player_tooltip player_id="116912" first="Zoe" last="Henderson"]: The 5’10 sophomore power forward from North Meck had a very strong rookie season. She is long and active, especially on the defensive side. She flies around and makes plays, and will take it herself in transition to convert easy 2 points on fast breaks. She has good size and speed, which allows her to get downhill quickly. In the next 3 years I am sure we will see her get even more under control and her finishing around the rim become even better. She plays AAU for the Team Curry organization.
