Oregon Elite Gold played a barn burner in their last game at the 28.5 League Championships with Lady Unity Red and thanks to some late heroics by [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"] came up with a huge 73-68 victory. Things began with a [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"] to [player_tooltip player_id="158550" first="Beaux" last="Bruegman"] jumper. [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] followed by a nice floater. Reardon steal to Ericson in transition. [player_tooltip player_id="207821" first="Gracie" last="Arnold"] to [player_tooltip player_id="204579" first="Carly" last="Wheeler"] triple. Reardon to Arnold triple made it 12-3 as Oregon Elite Gold jumped out to an early lead. However Lady Unity would not fold as they made some tough jumpers in the first half to keep up with Oregon Elite. Arnold to [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] inside followed by a Bishop board and bucket. Katelyn Heideman to Bishop inside as Bishop would have another solid outing inside the paint. Wheeler steal to Ericson in transition followed by a Wheeler to Arnold find. At halftime, Oregon Elite would trail 28-31 as Lady Unity would make a barrage of shots from outside the perimeter to put them up. The second half commenced with a Bruegman to [player_tooltip player_id="158563" first="Rilyn" last="Quirke"] triple. Quirke to Bishop jumper. Megert would find Quirke for a score. Bruegman fired a pass into Bishop at the rim followed by a [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"] long rebound for a jumper. [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] would have a nice floater followed by a Ericson to Wheeler triple. [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] board and bucket. Ericson to Wheeler triple. This would start a spirited [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"] performance, capped off by a Wheeler to Readon triple that made the affair 57-56. On the following possession, [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] would score off a floater. [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"] would hit a three off the inbounds thanks to a friendly bounce - as Oregon Elite Gold trailed 66-67 with 1:16 to go. Reardon would get a key steal with less than a minute to go that would be a sign of things to come as on the other end [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] found Reardon for a triple - putting them up 69-67 as the bench erupted in cheer. Thanks to a pair of [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"] free-throws and solid defense, Oregon Elite Gold would come up victorious in their final game at the 28.5 League Championships and make a statement in a big way. Stats: [player_tooltip player_id="207821" first="Gracie" last="Arnold"]: 4 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 2 steals [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"]: 13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"]: 8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals Katelyn Heideman: 1 assist [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"]: 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals [player_tooltip player_id="158563" first="Rilyn" last="Quirke"]: 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"]: 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals [player_tooltip player_id="204579" first="Carly" last="Wheeler"]: 14 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals [player_tooltip player_id="158550" first="Beaux" last="Bruegman"]: 2 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"]: 4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block Breakdown: Reardon & Wheeler Strike Again Reardon had a solid effort in the first half, but really came in handy during the last few minutes of the game. She hit three three-pointers during this stretch alone along with a key steal that helped seal the victory for Oregon Elite Gold. Her partner in crime, [player_tooltip player_id="204579" first="Carly" last="Wheeler"], had two three-pointers before this as Wheeler hit some huge shots that kept them in the game while Lady Unity was making one last final push. [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] was the one that found Reardon and Wheeler alongside the perimeter, as she knew to give it to the hot hand during crunch time. Reardon and Wheeler combined for 33 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals as the terrific tandem striked yet again for Oregon Elite Gold. Solid Forward Play [player_tooltip player_id="207821" first="Gracie" last="Arnold"], [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"], and [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] are a solid three forward group for Oregon Elite Gold who each bring a unique skill set for the club. Arnold is the fierce rim protector who brings an edge alongside the perimeter as a shooter and forward who can take you off the dribble. [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] is the productive forward who is a nightly double-double threat who plays with consistency. [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] is the blue collar post who is very disciplined and calculated with her moves who makes plays with effort. They each did a lot of the work that sometimes goes unnoticed as these three combined for 21 points and 16 rebounds in a solid combined effort. Other Superb Performers [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] was another catalyst throughout the game as she scored in bunches with her witty offensive tool-kit and as mentioned found players during key stretches during the game to keep Oregon Elite Gold right there with Lady Unity. Ericson finished with 8 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals in a solid outing. [player_tooltip player_id="158563" first="Rilyn" last="Quirke"] provided for some solid moments as a team oriented forward and selfless player as she scored when her number was called and found teammates in scoring position. Her 5 point, 3 rebound effort did not go unnoticed. [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"] was a spark plug at the point guard position as she scored masterfully and made plays on the floor with and without the ball. Megert turned in a superb 5 point, 3 rebound, 2 assist, 3 steal effort. [player_tooltip player_id="158550" first="Beaux" last="Bruegman"] was another solid forward who played her role effectively with a 2 point, 4 rebound, 2 assist effort in an energized performance.
