Oregon Elite Gold started things off in Arizona at the 28.5 League Championships with an early game versus Colorado Hoopsters 17U as they looked to get going on a good note before bracket play. Things began with two [player_tooltip player_id="158550" first="Beaux" last="Bruegman"] free throws followed by a Bruegman jumper. [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"] found [player_tooltip player_id="158563" first="Rilyn" last="Quirke"] for lay-up in which she converted a three-point play while being fouled. [player_tooltip player_id="204579" first="Carly" last="Wheeler"] found [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] for a nice score in which she banked it off the glass. [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"] found Bruegman again for another perimeter jumper. [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] found [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] for a triple followed by a Wilson board and bucket. Ericson had a nice floater that resulted in an and-one. Bishop had a nice up and under as Katelyn Heideman would leak out for the final score of the first half. Oregon Elite would find themselves up 33-21 over Colorado Hoopsters.
In the second half, Wilson would open things with a jumper as Ericson would have a nice floater. Reardon would Wilson inside as Ericson found Bruegman for a triple. Ericson dribble penetrate flip to Reardon for a triple. Bishop board and bucket followed by a Quirke find to Heideman for a triple. Megert find to Heideman for yet another triple. The final Oregon Elite Gold score of the game would come in the form of a Megert to Quirke bucket. Oregon Elite would win with an exclamation point as they came up victorious in a 60-47 fashion over Colorado Hoopsters 17U.

Oregon Elite Gold had an impressive seven players over 5 points as they shared the ball - often and early. With a group of talented and unselfish players, they didn’t focus on who did the job, rather on whether the job would get done or not. With four players with 8 points and the leading scorer with 9 points, it was certainly on the agenda to get everybody good touches and not force the issue and take good shots when they come. This is a resilient and patient group that understands how to make plays for others as they have seamlessly come together - and just in time for the 28.5 League Championships.
Beaux "Springs" Bruegman
The biggest surprise of this contest was perhaps [player_tooltip player_id="158550" first="Beaux" last="Bruegman"] as the Eugene native has impressed with this group despite joining more recently. She has been challenged by playing alongside the perimeter on offense and has answered resiliently as she is an accurate shooter that makes the most out of her touches by sticking open shots as an efficient perimeter shooter. The Sheldon forward finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds as she is a high motor players that not only gets up and down the floor but plays with a lot of exuberance and excitement, never taking plays off.
Oregon Elite Gold Shines
[player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] provided as a veteran forward who has savvy moves in the post as she came up with an 8 point, 8 rebound performance with masterful footwork in the post where she finished with finesse and strength. [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] had a spirited 8 point, 4 rebound, 2 assist effort where she showed pizzaz as a scorer that can get it going at any time. [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"] chipped in as a player who makes plays when she hits the floor whereas [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"] was an involved guard who finds ways to score and plays tough defense on the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] continued to show poise as a down-low scorer with her 8 points as Katelyn Heideman came in a sank two back to back three’s - showing off her exceptional and consistent range.
