I was debating on whether to head over to Delmar to catch Summer Creek vs Duncanville at 1 pm and Cypress Creek vs Shadow Creek at 3 however live wins over MEMOREX due to my attention span but here are some of the top players I’ll be checking out but I’ll be bringing you a whole lot more
1 pm
#1 Duncanville
[player_tooltip player_id="134030" first="Tristen" last="Taylor"]-5’5 PG sophomore
Taylor is one of the top point guards in the state, all classes included and her progression continues because she’s fast, with the ball, and under control, so she can take defenders with ease in the half-court or blow by them in the open court but her court vision, her ability to make the pass to the right person and her controlling the tempo, either way, are all huge
[player_tooltip player_id="97647" first="Zaria" last="Rufus"]-5’9 SF senior
Rufus is a terror in the paint, either attacking and finishing with contact or battling on the boards, both ends, and finishing on putbacks but her defense, either in the paint or on the perimeter puts her among the best in the state at her position. She plays bigger than her size, consistently rebounds over players who are at "the magic number" or taller
#19 Summer Creek
[player_tooltip player_id="136329" first="Adaora" last="Nwokeji"]-5’8 SG senior
Nwokeji is an explosive guard that understands how to create her shot, which is from mid to long-range as well as attack the rim with that "first step" but her body control also makes her an "and one" waiting to happen however that explosiveness also flips to the other side where her pressure defense, baseline to baseline, as well as in the half-court setting is more than solid
Kaitlyn Duhon-5’11 PF junior
Duhon is long and athletic, she has good timing to block, alter, and or deflect shots yet she has shown she can score by either attacking the rim or facing the basket
3 pm
#2 Cypress Creek
[player_tooltip player_id="65878" first="Rori" last="Harmon"]-5’6 PG senior
Harmon handles the ball under pressure, with either hand and watching her zig-zag through the defense is a work of art, not to leave out her crossover as well as her step back but she sees the floor, she threads the needle and she can create her shot, all under pressure, from mid to long-range
[player_tooltip player_id="97622" first="Kyndall" last="Hunter"]-5’8 SG senior
Hunter is an explosive scorer with unlimited range and her pull-up jumper in transition is consistent and one of the best in the state. She attacks the basket from wherever she wants against whoever she wants and she finishes after contact. Oh yeah, she plays the passing lane to a tee
#11 Shadow Creek
[player_tooltip player_id="97626" first="Bre’Yon" last="White"]-6’0 PF senior
White is a multiple scoring threat, she overpowers in the paint, she can attack off the dribble, her midrange game has always been good and now she’s dropping the long ball effortlessly. She also does a good job defending as well as rebounding on both ends
[player_tooltip player_id="135363" first="R’Mani" last="Taylor"] 5’8 PG junior
Taylor is one of the top junior point guards in Texas, her poise has been there since I caught her in elementary school and she just makes those around her better. She can handle the ball, control the tempo, and when you add her NBA range into the equation...
