Notre Dame defeated Jackson in the championship game with Class 1 contender Delta taking third place with a victory over Class 2 contender Oran in the third place game.
Here is a look at some of the top underclassmen at the tournament.
Alexa Rubel Alexa Rubel 6'0" | CG Cape Notre Dame | 2022 State MO 6’0″ Cape Notre Dame: The versatile 2022 guard led the Bulldogs to the tournament championship, with a game-high 20 points against Jackson in the finals. Her height and skill level make her a threat to score from anywhere on the floor. She has 3-point range and and the ability to score on the drive or in the low post. She can also handle the ball and pass it well.
Tori Rubel Tori Rubel 6'1" | SF Cape Notre Dame | 2023 State MO 6’1″ Cape Notre Dame: The 2023 forward averaged 14 points a game in the tournament, which included a game-high 19 points in the semifinal game victory over a game Delta squad. She did most of her damage in the low post against a smaller Delta team, but she was also capable of stepping out and hitting a 3-point shot. She is also capable of putting the ball on the floor and making a play.
Jordyn McClellan 5’9″ Jackson: The 2022 guard was one of the leading scorers in the tournament at nearly 17 points a game. She is a knock down shooter from 3-point range with a nice release and good elevation on her shot. She also has the ability to make a play off the dribble for herself.
Kendall Holweg Kendall Holweg 5'7" | CG Delta | 2022 State MO 5’8″ Delta: A 2022 guard who averaged 12 points a game in leading the Bobcats to a third-place finish in the tournament. She operated really well in the that high post area where she was able to take defenders off the dribble and hit that mid-range jumper. She scored on some tough takes to the basket and got herself to the free throw line.
Hope Woodfin, Delta: A 2022 wing player who averaged in double figures throughout the tournament. She provided a nice 3-point shot to the offense while playing very solid defense as she was constantly in position to make a play on that end of the court.
