Week 2 has come and gone and we had some excellent performances to talk about. The season is still in the early stages and everyone is getting used to the "new world order", but players are still showing they can play!

Annie Restovich got hot again. She hit 8 three pointers in a game for the second time this season. The 5’7 2023 sharp shooter from Visitation is averaging 15.2 points per game and shooting over 39% from behind the arc. When Annie gets her feet set on a catch and shoot, she does a great job of getting her elbow in and using a consistent release. From there, the shot will be straight, distance control is the only obstacle in her path from making them all.

Delesia Scott is a 6’0 2021 Post that was a big part in leading Cardinal Ritter to the Troy Invitational championship. She has a very good drop step that she can and will use over either shoulder. Ideally she can go to the baseline side but is comfortable going to the middle and shooting the turnaround jumper too. Delesia does a good job on the boards by using her strength to box out and grab the ball with authority.

[player_tooltip player_id="106911" first="Makenna" last="DeClue"] is a 5’2 2021 Guard from Troy Buchanon. MaKenna led her team to a second place finish in their opening tourney by averaging 14 points per game. She is a good ball handler that can get through traffic and use ball screens wisely. MaKenna is shifty and can be tricky in getting off her shots against taller players. She is also an adept and willing passer that dished out 6 assists per game through the Troy Invitational.

[player_tooltip player_id="234532" first="Jessie" last="Blaine"] of St. Dominic continued her trek to put her stamp on Missouri basketball in her one and only season. The transfer from California averaged 19.3 points and 12.6 rebounds per game during the Troy Invitational this week. The 5’11 Forward had a huge last game against Battle in putting up 24 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Jessie has used her motor and toughness to get to the line over 10 times per game to start the season. If she can get a few more shots to fall she may approach 25 points per game for the 2-2 Crusaders.

Mackenzie Duff is an athletic 2021 Forward from Nerinx Hall that can do damage from almost all 94 feet on the floor. Defensively she can guard and block shots on the perimeter, the wing and in the post. She uses her long arms to make it difficult to get a good look at the basket, even when it appears you have her beat. On offense she runs the floor well and scores most of her points inside the lane. Mackenzie is good in the post and good on the move. So far she is averaging 23.3 points per game including 30 in an opening loss to Lafayette.

[player_tooltip player_id="106877" first="Jaliyah" last="Green"] is a 5’11 2021 Guard from Holt. Jaliyah had a big week which was highlighted by passing 1,000 points for her career. The SEMO commit is averaging 20.7 points per game in addition to stuffing the stats by helping with rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. She can do it all for her Holt Indians team. Jaliyah is an excellent defender that can guard anyone and has made great strides with her shot over her high school career. Congrats on the 1,000 points!

The start of the season has been exciting and I cannot wait to get all of the teams rolling into their schedule and seeing how they improve with a more consistent routine.
