Everyone knows the tale of Santa’s reindeer pulling the sleigh. Dasher, Dancer, Comet, Cupid, Prancer, Vixen, Blitzen, Donner, and Rudolph are well known in Holiday lore. What if the sleigh was Michigan high school basketball? Who could pull it from the senior class? Who would be the 9 players pulling the sleigh? Here are my example of 9 athletes leading the way.

The team of 9 would need a selfless leader to gather the troops. Brown would be a great fit. She is the type of player and leader that teammates want to follow.
[player_tooltip player_id="138309" first="Lillee" last="Gustafson"] (PF, Hartland)
We need versatility from those carrying the weight, and Gustafson can give us just that. She does so many things well on the basketball court.
[player_tooltip player_id="138313" first="Ellie" last="Sieler"] (PG, Monroe)
In basketball we call it a floor general. Basically, we need someone to make sure everything runs smoothly. Sieler fits the bill. She initiates the offense with efficiency.
[player_tooltip player_id="138379" first="Paige" last="VanStee"] (SF, Thornapple-Kellogg)
We’ve talked about versatility, but we want more. VanStee could probably play 4 positions in high school basketball, so I’d take her to help pull the Michigan sleigh.
[player_tooltip player_id="177303" first="Brazyll" last="Watkins"] (CG, Lakeview)
We need someone that makes things happen, a playmaker so to speak. I’d take Watkins to help with that role. She handles the ball and makes the defense adjust.
[player_tooltip player_id="138351" first="Megan" last="Crow"] (C, Gladstone)
What if we need some defense during the trip? [player_tooltip player_id="138351" first="Megan" last="Crow"] can help with that. She’s tall and long, and is a defensive force in the paint.
[player_tooltip player_id="138384" first="Jacqueline" last="Hurst"] (PF, Rochester)
I want players pulling the sleigh that are dedicated to the cause. Well, nobody will devote themselves more than Hurst. She’s a relentless worker that won’t stop until the job is done.
[player_tooltip player_id="138368" first="Abby" last="Upleger"] (PF, Waterford Mott)
I want some more toughness. I know I can find that in Upleger. She’s sometimes undersized in the paint, but she will battle till there no more battling left to do. She’s mentally tough as well.
[player_tooltip player_id="175937" first="Krystina" last="Kasson"] (C, Kalamazoo Hacket)
Want to add strength to the team that’s pulling the Michigan basketball sleigh? Kasson is the perfect add. She’s strong and physical, and can enforce her will in the lane.
