The 67th edition of the Rome News-Tribune Christmas Tournament was held at Armuchee for second round action on Thursday. Teams from across Northwest Georgia collided as area bragging rights were up for grabs.
2021 5-5 PG Faith Ann Foster – Chattooga
Tough-nosed undersized point guard. Has added muscle to her frame. Is a tough drive and dish playmaker. Does a good job of slithering her way through defenders and drawing fouls at the rim. Can struggle to finish against length. Reliable ball handler and does the little things like blocking out. Finished with 9 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in a 43-40 loss to Darlington
2023 5-8 SG Makiya Parrish Makiya Parrish 5'8" | SG Chattooga | 2023 State GA – Chattooga
Good well-rounded scorer. Needs to stay in attack mode, but still is growing her overall game. Can finish with either hand. Spaces the floor with her three-point shot. Can apply pressure when attacking the basket. Faces a variety of different defenses designed to slow her down. Needs to impact game aside from just scoring. Scored 16 points and had 2 steals vs. Darlington.
2022 5-8 PF Vaeh Morgan – Chattooga
Grinder in the low post. Undersized but has good feel when her back is to the basket. Can score over her left shoulder against length. Uses her frame well. Had 9 points and 6 rebounds.
2022 6-0 PF Emmaline Ratledge – Darlington
Physical post that brings her family’s football toughness to the hardwood. Plays hard. Crashes the offensive glass and can carve out space when she grabs rebounds. Finishes with both hands. Has a hitch in her shot, but can knock down the mid-range. Active on both ends of the floor. Double-doubled with 12 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks.
2023 5-11 PF JyJy Johnson – Darlington
Lefty. Helped initiate the offense from time to time. Showcased the ability to score up close and from the three-point line. Has a growing repertoire with her back to the basket. Provides some length and physicality inside. Contributed 13 points (1 three), 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals in win over Chattooga.
2024 5-9 W Breana Griffin – Rome
Talented freshman. Long wing. Plays with quickness, makes up her mind and attacks the basket instantly. Very good slasher that can finish. Will take off once she implements an outside shot. Had 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.
2021 5-11 PF DeKerriya Daniel – Rome
Strong bodied forward that scores inside and out. Can finish with either hand up close. Can be used in pick-and-pop scenarios. Hit two threes. Poured in 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block in 70-40 win over Armuchee.
2022 5-9 PG Ta’Emmica Nation – Rome
Big guard with size and strength. Plays under control. Never let the defense change her pace. Shoots the three well and can distribute and handle vs. pressure. Hit two threes. Had 9 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal.
2022 5-8 SG Trenisha Adams – Rome
Has somewhat of an unorthodox follow through. Dangerous three-point shooter. Knocked down four deep balls. Opportunistic defender that earns steals and gets on loose balls. Had 14 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 3 steals.
2022 5-9 PF Olivia Moses – Armuchee
Solid post player. Comfortable making moves with her back to the basket. Plays hard inside and draws fouls. Uses drop steps and step throughs. Nice mid-range shot. Can play bigger than her size. Went 7-8 from the foul line. Had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
2021 5-7 SG Julia Williams – Armuchee
Drives hard to the basket. Provides athleticism on the perimeter. Works hard. Upside defensively, can guard multiple spots. Can help space the floor – hit two threes. Finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
