December 4th, 2020
There were two opening games on Friday December 4th. Those two games were Sioux Falls Lincoln vs Yankton and Garretson vs Baltic. I was able to catch the AA matchup. We’ll examine those prospects to see their style of play and strengths. There were some impressive prospects from all positions.
[player_tooltip player_id="99734" first="Ellie" last="Karolevitz"] — (5’10/PG/2022) — Yankton — Played the point for Yankton and she showed poise, skills, and toughness. Ellie has range from three and will muscle down low as she did some posting up too. She is an aggressive and strong guard. Can bust the ball up quickly in transition and take it at the defense. Not entirely phased by defensive pressure, as it doesn't bother her too much because she is very confident with the ball in her hands. Ellie has a toughness and confident mentality on the court. She dictates the game. I believe she could become a good college player.
[player_tooltip player_id="98685" first="Jaydyn" last="Fikse"] — Sioux Falls Lincoln — (6’2/C/2021) — A tall, strong-bodied post that is a presence down low for Sioux Falls Lincoln. Showed good passing ability, hitting cutters. Finished at a good percentage 5-10 for 12 total points. Has good defensive feet and can even extend her D out to the three point line without getting too exposed.
Kate Beeman — Yankton — (5’10/SF-PF/2022) — One of the more surprising games and traits, Kate finished with 15 points on 5-11 shooting. Has really good length. Can go off the dribble and finish in the lane off the glass.
Jordynn Salvatori — Yankton — (5’11/SF-PF/2022) — Her length immediately jumps out on you on the court. Might have a positive wingspan in comparison to her height. Runs well and runs the court hard.
[player_tooltip player_id="99737" first="Kaia" last="Jensen"] — Sioux Falls Lincoln — (5’11/SG-SF/2022) — Starts the offense running as a wing. Has great movement and athletic ability with great length. Can create separation inside with a quick and smooth spin. Had a quick cut to the hoop off screen into a catch for a quick left-handed layup. Showed the ability to handle the ball, including some crossover action. When she gets the ball in the post she does a great job at kicking the ball out to shooters when the defensive help comes. Passes very well. That really stood out.
[player_tooltip player_id="100483" first="Addie" last="Fawcett"] — Sioux Falls Lincoln —(5’7/PG/2023) — Was really impressive how she ran the show from the point. Showed some strong takes and finishes to the hoop. Handles the ball well and can run and offense under control.
[player_tooltip player_id="98784" first="Paige" last="Gullikson"] — Yankton — (5’6/CG/2021) — Can really play on both ends of the court. She will get after the ball-handler. A supreme lock-down defender on the opposing point guard. Really aggressive in denial and ball pressure.
Ady Sand —Sioux Falls Lincoln — (5’8/CG/2022) — Addy showed really impressive speed in general and it created a dynamic for Sioux Falls. She had a nice transition bucket high off of the glass, showing off her speed.
