Seniors: Standout Scorers Below are a few players in the senior class who are making noise so far this season for their ability to score the basketball. All of these prospects are currently in season and consistently putting up impressive numbers for their teams. [player_tooltip player_id="202317" first="Teya" last="Maas"] | Watertown | 6’1 F | Senior The recent Bryant & Stratton commit has been extremely dominant in the paint so far this season. She can score the ball consistently and grab rebounds with force, Maas is a difficult player to stop. She is averaging nearly 13 points per game in the first few games of her senior campaign. In her first game this season she scored 15 points against Oak Creek. Maas continues to improve her inside-out game and it is exciting to watch her be more comfortable handing the ball on the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id="155764" first="Maya" last="White Eagle"] | Baraboo| 5’6 PG | Senior White-Eagle, a transfer from Madison Memorial, is already having an impressive debut as a senior on Baraboo. This is an exciting move for White Eagle as I believe she will be able to really show her playmaking and scoring ability well in this conference. She can knock down the three point shot, get to the rim, or make a highlight reel pass to her teammates. In her three games played this season she is averaging 22 points per game. In a loss over Edgewood, White-Eagle had a career high 33 points. [player_tooltip player_id="155762" first="Mikayla" last="Henderson"] | New London | 5’9 G | Senior Henderson is off to an impressive start with an athletic New London squad. She’s quick and composed on the floor- doesn’t seem to force too many shots and always finds the open look for her teammates. Her ability to find the open player in turn helps her get herself open within the offense. She uses screens well and cuts hard through the lane. She is averaging 14 points per game. In her first game against West De Pere, Henderson dropped 20 points for New London. [player_tooltip player_id="202241" first="Alyssa" last="Nimz"] | Catholic Memorial | 6’1 F | Senior Nimz is off to a terrific start as expected. She came into her senior season with a tremendous ability to score the basketball and defend on both ends of the floor. She has continued that and more into her senior season thus far. Her transition play is impressive- she’s quick and balanced while remaining strong and dominant in the paint. She’s averaging nearly 17 points per game. In a win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Nimz scored a season high 28 points for her team. She is also averaging nearly 9 rebounds. Nimz is committed to Northern Michigan. [player_tooltip player_id="132341" first="Matyson" last="Wilke"] | Beaver Dam | 5’10 G | Senior Wilke is such a talented athlete on the floor with an incredible feel for the game. A senior leader for her Beaver Dam squad this season, Wilke seems unphased by any pressure. She can handle the ball and score from all three levels. She’s consistently put up great numbers in the first three games this season. She is averaging 20 points per game for her very talented Beaver Dam team. In a win over Fort Atkinson, Wilke dropped 25 points for her team. Wilke is committed to University of Wisconsin. [player_tooltip player_id="132353" first="Phoebe" last="Frentzel"] | Arrowhead | 5’9 PG | Senior Frentzel has shown some very impressive and exciting facilitating this season. An eyes up point guard who understands the game so well, Frentzel could easily take off any given night. Although she does so well getting her teammates involved and feeding the inside man, she’s incredibly shifty and does such a great job changing her pace with her dribble. She’s crafty and does not shy away from contact. She will knock down the three point shot as well. The St. Thomas commit is averaging 15 points per game this season. In a win against Pius XI Catholic, Frentzel dropped 22 points for her team. Emma Thistle | Kettle Moraine Lutheran | 5’4 PG | Senior Thistle is off to a great start this season, leaving off right where she left off from her junior year. A scrappy guard who gives 100% on the floor, Thistle is athletically gifted. He is averaging 15 points per game this season. She scored 21 points in a win over Campbellsport and in a one point win over Sussex Hamilton. The anchor for this team, Thistle will be sure to play some big minutes this year. Her stock continues to rise as she’s becoming more impressive handling the ball on offense. A super confident guard with a great IQ. [player_tooltip player_id="202244" first="Geneva" last="Hewitt"] | Winnebago Lutheran | 5’8 SG | Senior Although Hewitt has only played two games this season, her numbers speak for themselves. She’s a standout scorer and can clearly impact the game from anywhere on the floor. A pure three level scorer who has great poise and confidence on the floor. Hewitt is averaging 26.5 points per game this season after scoring 25 points in a 65-63 win over a tough Watertown Luther Prep squad. She also scored 28 points in a win over Kiel. She is most certainly a player to keep on your radar as the season progresses. [player_tooltip player_id="132355" first="Sammy" last="Opichka"] | Notre Dame | 5’11 G | Senior The St.Thomas commit has been putting on a show for this Notre Dame team this season. A dynamic wing who scores or facilitates, Opichka is a tough matchup. She is averaging 17 points per game for her team. In a game over an extremely talented Appleton East team, Opichka scored 20 points in the victory. She is elite off the catch due to her consistency and high and tight release. Her mechanics on the floor are virtually perfect as well- her ceiling for knocking down very deep perimeter shots is high. She has great energy at the floor and seems to enjoy playing in a fast paced offense.
