Here we are at week 2 of the Missouri high school basketball season! Each week we will take a look a some of the games and players in some of the big-time matchups throughout the state in our weekly review. Here is a look at some of the key games and standout players from week 2!

<strong><em>12/2 - Lee’s Summit West 59 vs Jeff City 68</em></strong>
This was a great early season matchup that was loaded with talent. The game featured a total of 7 ranked players and including 2021 Sara Linthicum (#2) and 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="108031" first="Tasia" last="Johnson"] (#5). It was a tight game to start but both teams began to find their groves at the end of the first quarter and into the second quarter with the lady jays holding a double-digit lead. The Lady Titans would make a run to cut the lead to 2 midway through the fourth quarter. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="108031" first="Tasia" last="Johnson"] played an excellent floor game being the solid two-way player that she has been. She scored 21pts and add 5 boards to go along with 5 assists. Both 2021’s [player_tooltip player_id="170150" first="Brooke" last="Ellis"], 16pts 8reb, and Morgan Pietig, 12pts 4ast, played solid games. End the end the Lady Jays were just too strong inside as 2021 Sara Linthicum and [player_tooltip player_id="106886" first="Kara" last="Daly"] were able to play dominant games.

<strong><em>12/3 - Park Hill 51 vs Blue Springs South 64</em></strong>
In yet another game that featured and a ton of talent, this early season showdown between the Lady Trojans of Park Hill and Lady Jaguars. 2022’s [player_tooltip player_id="143803" first="Amaya" last="Blake"] (PGH Rank #8) and [player_tooltip player_id="107959" first="Kennedy" last="Townsend"] (PGH Rank #10) have teamed up this year and both had solid games for the lady Trojans. Not to be outdone, the Lady Jaguars also have some top-level talent in 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="150008" first="Lauren" last="Gillig"] (PGH Rank #45), 2022’s [player_tooltip player_id="143415" first="Jaidynn" last="Mason"] (PGH Rank #25), [player_tooltip player_id="161761" first="Tiyani" last="Rollins"] (PGH Rank #27), [player_tooltip player_id="187636" first="Micah" last="Landry"] (PGH Rank #39), [player_tooltip player_id="187637" first="Saneea" last="Bevley"] (PGH Rank #44) and 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="194411" first="Kendall" last="Puryear"] (PGH Rank #8). Making her return to the hardwood from an ACL injury, Saneea Looked comfortable and posied in her first action since the injury scoring 18pts 3rebs 4ast and 2 steals. Do it all [player_tooltip player_id="143415" first="Jaidynn" last="Mason"] also had a very strong game with 18pts 6rebs 6ast and 4 steals displaying her elite-level ball skills and playmaking ability. Anchoring the middle for the Lady Jags both [player_tooltip player_id="187636" first="Micah" last="Landry"] and [player_tooltip player_id="194411" first="Kendall" last="Puryear"] both controlled the boards and played solid post defense all while contributing 5pts 10rebs and 7pts 8rebs. For the Lady Trojans was [player_tooltip player_id="107959" first="Kennedy" last="Townsend"], who had her usually solid game. She poured in 25pts 8rebs and 4asts while going 3 for 5 from three. [player_tooltip player_id="143803" first="Amaya" last="Blake"] chipped in 7pts 4rebs and a couple assists.

<strong><em>12/3 - Truman 51 vs North Kansas City 57</em></strong>
In another talent-filled early-season matchup, there were ranked players on both sides. Leading the way was 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="106867" first="Ja’Mya" last="Powell-Smith"] (PGH Rank #4). The senior point guard had a game-high 32pts with 50% shooting from three. She also added 6rebs and 4 steals in guiding the Lady Hornets to the win. Also contributing was 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="213722" first="Yar" last="Manyiel"] (PGH Rank #50) as she chipped in 12pts and 9rebs. For the lady patriots of Truman 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="189843" first="Taliyah" last="Scott"] (PGH Rank #13) 18pts and 2stls. Her three-point shooting kept the game close in the first half. Both 2023 Urya’ Williams (PGH Rank #14) and 2024 Newcomer [player_tooltip player_id="235459" first="Layla" last="Scott"] but had solid games for the Lady Patriots, with Layla pouring in 15pts and adding 4asts and Urya’ contributing 9pts and 10rebs.

<strong><em>12/4 - Blue Springs 58 vs Columbia Rock Bridge 65</em></strong>
In another great matchup, the Lady Wildcats of Blue Springs headed east for a showdown with the Lady Bruins of Rock Bridge. The Lady Bruins turned in a solid game and shot the ball well as a team. Leading the way for Rock Bridge were 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="107958" first="Averi" last="Kroenke"] (PGH Rank #3) and [player_tooltip player_id="107964" first="Kyrah" last="Brodie"] (PGH Rank #16). As well as 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="106875" first="Mary" last="Primus"] (PGH Rank #65). After a back and forth first quarter that ended up being tied, both teams got things going second with solid defense and timely shooting going into the half all tied up. The Lady Bruins would make a run to start the third and hold a 4 point lead halfway through and extend their lead to 10 to start the 4th. The Lady Wildcats lead by 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="143418" first="Jada" last="Williams"] (PGH Rank #1) would make a serious run to take a 1 point lead 56 - 55 late in the fourth. But Rock Bridge got some clutch three-point shooting and scoring from [player_tooltip player_id="107958" first="Averi" last="Kroenke"] and 2023 Maggie Primus (Unranked) to hold on for the win.
