Tonight, we will look at some names of players who are new to the PGH circle, some may be ranked but many are not. It’s a look at some Newcomers on the scene.
Last week, I took in four games during week 2, and here are some names of players who stood out to me during that day.
Sophia Coaston, 5-5 2022, Dayton Stebbins
I liked her effort in this game vs Troy. Not a familiar name among the elite in the region, Coaston put together a solid game, and again scored in double figures on the next game she played. Sophia does a good job running the floor in transition, and can handle the ball well for the Indians. She will have to be consistent for Stebbins to put together a solid season. Has range to shoot the three, and showed some intensity on the court.
Isabella Dunwiddie Isabella Dunwiddie 5'9" | CG Fairborn | 2024 OH , 5-9 2024, Fairborn
After a slow start likely due to nerves of her first ever varsity game, Isabella settled in and put together a solid game against Piqua. She was poised and didn’t get rattled when she made a mistake. She does a good job with body control, and showed a strong ability to get to the rim. Isabella moves well without the ball in her hands and is not afraid of contact. Connected from long range and is a three-point threat. Bright future ahead for her.
Hannah Wildermuth, 5-10 2023, Tippecanoe
She is following in the footsteps of her older sister Rachel, and is proving to be a threat for Tippecanoe again this season. Saw some action as a freshman and with another year of confidence, her game will continue to grow. Has good body control and can score from the midrange to the rim. Good hands and a smart basketball IQ. Part of a good young group coming up with the Red Devils.
Riley Hodson Riley Hodson 5'10" | SG Valley View | 2023 State OH , 5-9 2023, Valley View
Among this group of five new faces, Riley is the most advanced so far. Very skilled defensively, she does a good job controlling her opponent and right now, that is the biggest asset to her game. Don’t think she can’t score, as she has good range and the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Good handles and a smart, heady player. Part of a very talented Spartans group this year.
Olivia Spiller, 5-7 2022, Tippecanoe
This is a name that not many people know yet, as she is a very good role player for Tippecanoe. The strength of her game is her ability to score from the perimeter. Still working to fine tune the rest of her game, but she can be an asset to a team loaded with talented seniors. Her time is coming, and each day she takes the court is a chance to help her team.
