Here are seven standout guard prospects from this past week’s action:
Kendall Brown Kendall Brown 5'9" | CG Desoto | 2021 State TX | 2021 | 5’9’’ Combo Guard | DeSoto HS – Brown is the senior leader of this year’s DeSoto team. That is visually evident on the court. She is a smart player who sees the floor well. The Houston commit can operate comfortably at either guard spot and showed that she can score on or away from the ball. She had a solid game finishing at the basket vs. Allen and also hit a three from the catch.
Isabella Earle Isabella Earle 5'8" | SG Denton Guyer | 2021 State TX | 2021 | 5’10’’ Combo Guard | Denton Guyer HS – Earle remains one of the craftiest guards in the state as a senior. Her all-around game is remarkable. She can dribble, pass, shoot, and defend at a high level. The 2021 combo guard displayed all of those skills on Friday vs. Skyline. She made timely cuts to the basket and drilled threes while playing off the ball and had some excellent feeds when operating as Guyer’s lead guard. Additionally, she was excellent on defense, making opportunistic plays at that end of the floor throughout the contest.
Zyniah Thomas | 2021 | 5’6’’ Point Guard | Dallas Skyline HS – Thomas is electric when the ball is in her hands. She has blazing speed in the open court and only requires a few steps to reach full speed. The senior floor general was a generous distributor on Friday. She was responsible for several gorgeous passes. Thomas also exhibited how tough she is by continuing to take punishment while attacking the basket off the dribble. Furthermore, she was disruptive on defense, finishing the night with four steals.
Zoe Jackson Zoe Jackson 5'8" | CG Allen | 2021 State TX | 2021 | 5’8’’ Point Guard | Allen HS – Jackson functions as Allen’s primary ball handler. She possesses a deep package of dribble moves and showed that she knows how to get defenders off balance and out of position with her handle. Furthermore, the Butler commit had some brilliant assists vs. DeSoto on Tuesday. She made numerous picture-perfect entry passes too, which is a necessity considering she shares the court with the talented Mackenzie Wurm Mackenzie Wurm 6'3" | C Allen | 2021 State TX .
Kayla Glover | 2021 | 5’6’’ Point Guard | DeSoto HS – Glover played sparingly in the first half vs. Allen. However, she started the second half and immediately helped DeSoto take control of the game. She didn’t allow the ball to stick to her on offense and kept opposing ball handlers in front of her on defense. The 2021 guard also showed off a nice-looking runner in the fourth quarter. She is further proof that DeSoto has one of the deepest rosters in Texas.
Jamia Harris Jamia Harris 5'7" | SG DeSoto | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 5’8’’ Shooting Guard | DeSoto HS – Harris contributed to the Eagles’ victory by scoring from all three levels in the second half. She drained a catch-and-shoot three-pointer in the third quarter and scored with a beautiful floater high off the glass while being fouled in the fourth. The junior two-guard hit a mid-range jumper from the baseline in the final quarter as well. Harris made all of her touches count on Tuesday.
KK Jones | 2023 | 5’8’’ Combo Guard | Denton Guyer HS – I was excited to see Jones contribute more on the offensive end after a really solid freshman season, and she did exactly that vs. Skyline. The sophomore combo guard buried a pair of triples from the catch and earned several trips to the foul line with some strong takes to the basket. Furthermore, her defense has not suffered as a result of her increased role as a scorer. She is still an engaged and intelligent defender. Jones finished the game with 10 points and three steals. She is developing into a gifted two-way player.
