10 Thing you should know about SF Washington vs STM

The #1 Ranked players in class 2021 and 2022 will be on display. #1 PGH Dakota [player_tooltip player_id="98671" first="Sydni" last="Schetnan"] (Committed to Louisville) anchors the middle for Sioux Falls Washington. She stands at 6’5 with a wing span like an eagle. Light on her feet, which she can give credit to her volleyball abilities. Her teammate [player_tooltip player_id="14245" first="Ndjakalenga" last="Mwenentanda"] is the #1 PGH Dakota ranked playing the class of 2022. She is a top 25 ESPN player with offers from Duke, UCLA, Texas, Iowa State, Louisville, Stanford, Maryland, Oregon, Clemson and Vanderbilt.

The #2 Ranked player in the class of 2021 is [player_tooltip player_id="98666" first="Haleigh" last="Timmer"] of St. Thomas More. The South Dakota State University commit, is the leader of the Cavaliers. A special talent with an array of ways to attack the lane and get to the rim. Timmer has a great fill for the game and a high basketball IQ.

Shooting from the arc could be a difference in this game. Both teams have sharp shooters around the perimeter. SF Washington has a few but one in particular is [player_tooltip player_id="98763" first="Brielle" last="Biteler"]. Recently committed to Dakota Wesleyan, Biteler stretches the defense so far out that it allows her interior teammate to eat up inside.

Four players officially over 6’0. Either the lanes will be packed or the outside will look like the Great Wall of China. These aren’t your typical 6 footers. All of them are mobile and athletic.

The class of 2023 is well represented in this game. 5 super sophomores highlight the future of both programs. STM’s [player_tooltip player_id="154266" first="Reese" last="Ross"] and [player_tooltip player_id="154265" first="Scarlet" last="Grimshaw"] are major contributors. Grimshaw runs the point and controls the tempo for the Cavaliers. Ross is a long wing player that moves well on and off the ball. SF Washington has the Harpe sisters (Hannah & Brooklyn) and [player_tooltip player_id="100475" first="Alexus" last="Motley"]. Brooklyn is a natural scorer with a keen sense on offense. Hannah play multiple positions and runs the lanes well. Can play 2 through 4. [player_tooltip player_id="100475" first="Alexus" last="Motley"] is a blur in transition and in the open court, one of if not the best at it.

STM has 6 Class A State Championship since 2012 (5 in a row 2014-2018). That some Chicago Bulls of the 90’s type of dominance.

When its all said and done we could have 7 Division 1 players from this single game. We know 3 for sure in Schetnan, Mwenentanda and Timmer. However, the sophomore group has 4 capable and ascending prospects in Ross, Motley and the Harpe sisters.

KOBE! Just cause…….

9 times, between the two teams, they have a margin of victory over 20 plus points. A dub! Their opponents aren’t even close.

With a combined perfect 10-0 record STM and SF Washington sit atop the team rankings in their respective classes. Who will continue their winning streak? Which prospect will light up the show? Which coach will win the chess match? We will find out!

 [caption id="attachment_219502" align="alignnone" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="154266" first="Reese" last="Ross"] 2023, St. Thomas More[/caption][caption id="" align="alignnone" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="100475" first="Alexus" last="Motley"] 2023, Sioux Falls Washington[/caption][caption id="attachment_207882" align="alignnone" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="14245" first="Ndjakalenga" last="Mwenentanda"] 2022, Sioux Falls Washington[/caption]
