Just when you think the opposing team has an easy fast break, she breaks up the play! Knows how to get to the line, comfortable with mid range jumpers, can hit the 3’s, but what I enjoy watching the most with Hoying is how she handles pressure defense- it doesn’t phase her! Nice handles, can pick pockets, and can anticipate bad passes from a mile away!
Abby Stephens Abby Stephens 6'0" | PF Uniontown Lake | 2021 State OH : 6’0, SF, 2021, Akron Hoban: This long, athletic, future Purdue University Fort Wayne commit is a tough player! Stephens is so versatile, with a high basketball IQ, and the ability to play both inside and outside. She plays so strong in the paint, uses the backboard well. Abby cannot be left open outside, because she will drain from 3 point land as well! Excellent body control on defense, especially when blocking shots. Solid rebounder, does a good job cleaning up the boards.
Lanae Riley Lanae Riley 5'11" | C Akron Hoban | 2022 State OH : 6’0, PF, 2022, Akron Hoban: Lanae is an absolute machine on the court! She is so strong, plays physical, aggressive going after the ball for rebounds, and is very difficult to stop. She can play anywhere on the court. Very nice mid-range jump shot, and opposing teams cannot give her or her team 2nd chances, because she will capitalize. Because of Riley’s size, strength, and mobility, she is so hard to box out! She’s the real deal!
Ava Haddad: 6’0, PF, 2022, St. Joesph Academy: Ava has got a nice game, shows strength in the inside. Haddad’s length gives her the ability to defend in the post and on the perimeter. She can showcase knocking down the mid-range shots, and is very consistent in making her free throws. She displays a nice soft touch when shooting inside. I was impressed with her help side defense, as well as her ability to slash hard to the basket offensively.
Ella Neitzel: 5’9, SG, 2022, St. Joesph Academy: Neitzel is a solid, all-around player, with a nice motor, quick feet. Good court vision, and advances the ball up the floor on the break. She can knock down the three pointer, and has no problem taking the ball to the basket. She plays smooth, makes smart decisions on offense- doesn’t force shots, but lets the game come to her. Keep Neitzel on your radar.
