IWA outlasted Vashon 75-72 in a battle of St. Louis area powerhouse teams that was entertaining from start to finish. The game resembled a state Final Four contest in terms of intensity and the high level of play.
Here is a look at the top four stars from Tuesday night’s game.
No. 1 Star: Saniah Tyler Saniah Tyler 5'7" | PG Incarnate Word Academy | 2022 State #43 Nation MO (Incarnate Word) – The 5’6 2022 point guard provided a reminder as to why she is one of the state’s best as she scored a team-high 29 points. She was terrific in the fourth quarter as she scored 11 points in rallying the Red Knights from a seven-point deficit. She did it all from penetrating drives, mid-range jumpers and pull up 3-pointers in transition. The bigger the moment, the more she responds.
No. 2 Star: Marshaun Bostic (Vashon) – The 2021 Auburn recruit Put on an offensive show with a game-high 32 points. She is without peer when it comes to end to end speed with the ball in her hands and she stayed in attack mode throughout the game with several excellent finishes.
No. 3 Star: Raychel Jones Raychel Jones 5'10" | CG Vashon | 2023 State MO (Vashon) – The 5’11 2023 guard scored 25 points and was tremendous in the second half as the intensity level of the game increased. She had the 3-point stroke working as she made five of the while also slashing and creating off the dribble.
No. 4 Star: Natalie Potts Natalie Potts 6'2" | PF Incarnate Word | 2023 State MO (Incarnate Word) – The 2023 forward scored 19 points for the Red Knights. The versatile Potts did a lot of damage around the basket last night as she used her height to her advantage with a soft shooting touch on layups and short jumpers.
