Here is the first part of my feature on the top seniors who performed well on this day.
Kiya Dorroh, 6-1, Arizona Compass
Part of a very talented team from out west, Kira showed a lot of good tools with an ability to score from inside or out. She has a good three point shot, and has the range to hurt you from out beyond the arc. She is headed to Missouri and was among the top players in the gym over the weekend.
Kenzie McConnell, 6-0, Circleville
The Ashland signee was difficult to defend as she showed her strong and physical play in their game on Saturday. She is a powerful player in the paint or around the basket. Good hands and agile to be able to score in multiple ways. Excellent rebounder and can defend the post well. She was first-team all-Ohio as a junior and there is no reason to believe she won’t repeat and aim for the Player of the Year.
Emma Brown, 6-0, Eastern Brown
This kid is a workhorse on defense who takes pride on doing her job around the rim. Emma moves well and can manage the paint. I liked the way she was active with good court awareness and a solid basketball IQ. A good compliment around the basket to a player who you will read about later this week.
Callie Hunt, 6-1, Edgewood
A very complete player who can do her damage either in the paint with a variety of good moves and solid footwork, or she can step outside with range to beyond the arc. Good rebounder, good passer on the outlet in transition. Headed to Thomas More and should continue to improve her game.
Chloe Butler, 5-6, Edgewood
One of the most underrated seniors in the area, and she has blossomed into an outstanding player. She has an inside game where she can penetrate and finish at the rim, or step out and challenge you from the perimeter. She can connect from three, has good hands and is active on defense. Solid defender and very good court awareness and high level basketball IQ.
Laila Phelia Laila Phelia 5'11" | SG Mount Notre Dame | 2021 State #33 Nation OH , 5-11, Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame
It didn’t take fans long to see why she was headed to the Big Ten, as the Michigan signee showed a lot of different weapons in their game on Saturday. Not only can she get to the rim and finish, she has unlimited range and is not afraid to let it fly from anywhere. Very athletic and skilled, runs transition well. Good handles and defensively makes a difference in the game.
