With the start of the abbreviated girls basketball season just a couple of weeks away, we decided to rank New Jersey’s best players. Normally, player rankings are done by class. For the purpose of this eight-part series, we grouped everyone together.
Let’s debate!
<strong style="font-size: 1rem;">11. [player_tooltip player_id="134615" first="Colleen" last="McQuillen"], Cresskill:</strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;"> The Fordham commit posted eye-popping numbers a year ago. She is the best scorer in the state – averaging almost 26 points per game. She has over 2,000 points in her standout career.</span>
<strong style="font-size: 1rem;">12. Caileigh Walsh, Gill St. Bernard’s:</strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;"> The skill that separates Walsh from the other post players in the state is her ability to shoot. The 6-4 stretch four, who is a Northwestern University commit, has the shooting range of a guard.</span>
<strong style="font-size: 1rem;">13. [player_tooltip player_id="134624" first="Tara" last="Johnson"], University:</strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;"> Standing at 6 feet, she has the size to play multiple positions on the floor, but the senior is at her best with the ball in her hands. She quietly emerged as one of New Jersey’s best, posting 15.5 points and 7.6 rebounds a year ago.</span>
<strong style="font-size: 1rem;">14. [player_tooltip player_id="134627" first="Justine" last="Pissott"], Red Bank Catholic:</strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;"> The Tennessee commit is the heart and soul for a Red Bank Catholic team that has as much talent as anyone in the state. The 6-4 sharpshooter had a huge summer with the Philadelphia Belles.</span>
<strong style="font-size: 1rem;">15. [player_tooltip player_id="134630" first="Kiley" last="Capstraw"], West Orange:</strong><span style="font-size: 1rem;"> The Yale commit was slowed down last season by injuries. Still, when healthy, she showed why she is one of the top players in the Garden State. She competes hard on both ends of the floor and never stops attacking on offense (23 points per game).</span>
