Lutheran North defeated Farmington in the championship game while Cape Girardeau Central defeated Lindbergh for third place. Here is a look at some of the top players for the four teams that were in the Final Four.
Lutheran North
Taleah Dilworth: The 5’9″ 2021 guard had a big tournament in helping lead the Crusaders to the championship. She had 21 points in the championship game against Farmington and 17 points, six rebounds and four assists against Parkway West in the first round. She is a slashing guard with a quick first step and a good finisher around the basket. She has good length and the ability to be disruptive on the defensive end.
Laila Blakeny: The 5’7″ 2023 guard averaged 14 points a game in the tournament, including 22 in the championship game. She has emerged as an excellent offensive threat this season with 3-point shooting range and the ability to get to the basket off the dribble.
Raven Addison: The 2023 forward averaged 10 points a game while providing some good 3-point shooting during the tournament. She was especially good from the corners. She made four 3-pointers in the Crusaders’ victory over Lindbergh in the semifinals.
Cynaa Coleman: The 5’10” point guard is a steady ball handler and passer who doesn’t look to score much, but she really does a good job of distributing the basketball. She is strong with the ball and she can see over defenses with her height. She is also a solid defender on the press defense with good anticipation.
Farmington
Jade Roth: The versatile 6’0″ 2023 guard averaged 12 points a game in the tournament while providing matchup problems with her height and versatile skill set. She is a very good 3-point shooter, plus she can use her ball handling skills to drive around bigger defenders to the basket.
Angelia Davis: The 5’10” 2023 forward was selected to the All-Tournament team after a productive week. She is an aggressive player who can post up well and score inside and rebound. She can also step out and knock down a 15-footer off the catch.
Skylar Sweeney: The 2023 guard averaged 13 points a game in the tournament. She is a very talented offensive player who can handle the ball, get in the lane for buckets and hit the open 3-pointer. She was very good when she was attacking the basket.
Grace Duncan: The 2023 guard averaged nearly 10 points a game in earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She did a very good job of handling the ball and delivering some nice dimes to open teammates.
Cape Girardeau Central
Taylor Horton: The 2023 guard averaged 12 points a game in earning a slot on the All-Tournament Team. She is a versatile player who played well in the transition game and excelled at both ends of the court.
Ella Vogel: The 6’1″ 2022 forward averaged 11 points in leading the Tigers to a third-place finish in the tournament. She is a solid post player who did a nice job scoring and rebounding around the basket. She also had a couple of aggressive drives on the baseline that I liked in which she powered through the contact.
Lindbergh
Sydney Thomas: The 5’8″ 2022 guard earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after averaging about 10 points a game for the week in leading the Flyers to a fourth-place finish.
