When trying to measure how efficient a player is in terms of shooting and getting to the free-throw line, points-per-shot (PPS) is a good metric to use for comparison. So with a huge assist from Green Mountain coach Darren Pitzner, we took a look at which returning players ranked the highest in PPS last season.
Here are some of the most efficient 4A scorers returning for Season B.

Tapia broke out for the Wildcats as just a sophomore last season, leading the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game. She also did so efficiently, posting a 1.45 PPS, which is the highest mark of any returning player in Class 4A. The multi-sport athlete and inside-out player also led the Northern League with 78 made free throws and averaged 7.3 rebounds a night.
[player_tooltip player_id="117693" first="Avery" last="Oaster"], 2022, 5’11, PF, Green Mountain
Another player to watch who is coming off an excellent sophomore season, Oaster is the second-most efficient player in terms of PPS with a 1.42. Green Mountain reached the Final Four last winter and having two players on this list likely had something to do with the Rams’ success. Oaster, an up-and-coming forward, also averaged 9.5 points while shooting 52 percent from the field.

Coming in with a 1.37 PPS and just behind her teammate, Hank pairs with Oaster to give the Rams two of the top three returning players in terms of PPS. At outstanding and versatile small forward, Hank can play all over the floor and led the Rams with 10.1 points per game last season. She shot 51 percent from the field, and averaged seven rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.5 blocks a night. It’s little wonder the Green Mountain girls went 24-3 and reached the Final Four in 2019-20.
Jamie Caron, 2022, SG, Rifle
In 21 games as a sophomore in 2019-20, Caron averaged 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds for Rifle. She shot 39 percent from the field and was her team’s most efficient player with a PPS of 1.37. The Bears went 10-15 last season and should be positioned to boost their record in Season B with Caron back in the mix.
[player_tooltip player_id="116762" first="Amyah" last="Moore"], 2021, 5’8, G/F, Harrison
Moore put on a show last winter, scoring 21.8 points per game. That was the fourth highest scoring average in the entire state of Colorado. What’s more impressive, she put up those numbers while still maintaining a 1.34 PPS. She also averaged six rebounds, 3.3 assists, four steals and 1.3 blocks a night, and looks poised for a monster senior campaign in Season B.
[player_tooltip player_id="145397" first="Tyler" last="Whitlock"], 2021, 5’11, SF, Holy Family
A dynamic multi-sport athlete and a major reason the Tigers reached the Class 4A state title game last season, Whitlock had a breakout season as a junior in 2019-20. She averaged 9.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, three assists, 4.3 steals and a block per game. She also had a 1.31 PPS, which was the 11th-best mark in the state.
