High school girls basketball is back across the Garden State as the 2021 season in New Jersey kicks off this week. Teams and players have been preparing in practice and in scrimmages over the past few weeks and have been waiting for months on end, chomping at the bit to get back on the court. Prep Girls Hoops is here to give you all of the coverage you need, from player profiles to team previews and more, including this article as PGH takes a closer look at the top forwards in the Blue Division of the Greater Middlesex Conference. Madison Robel, Middlesex: Middlesex returns its entire roster going into the 2021 season and Robel is the go-to option in the middle after a strong sophomore campaign. She averaged 8.6 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 0.9 BPG and 1.6 SPG last season, leading the team in rebounding and blocked shots. She returns as the third-leading scorer for Middlesex and this season, Robel has her eyes set on double-double averages as well as 1.5+ BPG and 2.0+ SPG. [player_tooltip player_id="155466" first="Tiffany" last="Fischer"], South River: Fischer, playing alongside her sister Ashley last season, turned into one of the best duos in the conference and the state. Now, with Ashley having graduated last spring, Tiffany, now a junior, is looking to build off a 2019-20 season where she averaged 14.6 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 5.1 APG, 1.7 BPG, 3.7 SPG and 1.4 made threes a game. Fischer stuffed the stat sheet as a sophomore and in 2021, she’s going to make an even bigger splash, averaging a double-double and flirting with triple-double averages. Alexa Castro, Dunellen: Castro made her presence felt as a freshman for Dunellen during the 2019-20 season and will look to build off of that in a big way in 2021. She averaged 9.0 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 0.8 BPG, 1.0 SPG and 0.5 made threes a game last season, a strong first impression in the conference. Castro is a versatile player, able to switch off both as a forward and a guard, so she’ll be featured just as much down low as you’ll see her shooting away from the wing. Sofia Juliani, Highland Park: Juliani is bringing a level of talent and maturity to a Highland Park roster that was short-handed last season, featuring just an eight-player roster. The Owls ended up going 4-17, but Julani is a proven scorer and defender, averaging 9.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 1.5 BPG in her junior season. With three seniors having graduated last spring, Juliani is going to be relied upon heavily to play a lot this season, and with that should come a double-double average. Allison Clarke, Spotswood: Clarke is one of the premier shot-blockers in the state and is going to be the backbone of Spotswood’s 2021 team. She averaged 8.6 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 3.0 BPG, 1.8 SPG and just over one made three a game. Clarke returns as Spotswood’s leading scorer, perimeter shooter, rebounder and shot-blocker, an absolute deadly combination for opponents. Now a junior, Clarke should put up a double-double every game and could flirt with 4.0 BPG in 2021. Prep Girls Hoops has more coverage coming your way for the 2021 New Jersey high school girls basketball season so stay tuned.
