Here are six standout juniors from this past week’s action:
Boston Hundley | 2022 | 5’5” Point Guard | Colleyville Heritage HS – Despite suffering a loss, Hundley put together an impressive all-around performance against Grapevine. The junior floor general is an excellent shooter, burying a deep three off the bounce as well as a long two from the catch. She played with good pace and was great as a facilitator too, making smart decisions with the basketball and consistently getting her team the best possible look on offense. Furthermore, Hundley was a disciplined perimeter defender who made timely stops and forced turnovers when her team needed them in the fourth quarter.
Emery Kirkpatrick | 2022 | Power Forward | Grapevine HS – Kirkpatrick operates as a stretch four for the Mustangs on offense. She is a talented shooter from behind the arc. The 2022 power forward hit back-to-back threes from the catch in the first quarter, the second of which came right before the buzzer. She also had a solid game rebounding and defending in the paint.
Kaylee Lewis | 2022 | 5’9” Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Colleyville Heritage HS – Lewis had a huge third quarter vs. Grapevine, accounting for 13 points, including three catch-and-shoot triples. Her shooting single-handedly kept the Panthers within striking distance after falling behind by double digits in the first half. Additionally, the 5-foot-9-inch wing showed that she is an outstanding free throw shooter.
Macey Borland | 2022 | 6’0” Small Forward | Plano HS – Borland is a great three-point shooter from the catch. She knocked down a pair of corner threes on Tuesday. Her size allows her to shoot over defenders with ease. The 6-foot wing contributes on the defensive glass and is a generous distributor as well. She keeps the ball moving and is willing to make the extra pass in order to turn a good look into a great look.
Mimi Margiotta | 2022 | 5’4” Combo Guard | Grapevine HS – Margiotta is a terrific three-and-D guard for Grapevine. She gets down into a stance and works hard on defense, refusing to let opposing ball handler get past her on the perimeter. The 2022 prospect came away with a pair of steals in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter to halt Colleyville Heritage’s comeback attempt. On offense, she is always ready to fire and drilled a catch-and-shoot corner three.
Aniya Rhonden | 2022 | 5’8” Small Forward | Colleyville Heritage HS – Rhonden is a tough-nosed wing. On offense, she contributed several buckets down low, showing good strength and finishing ability in the paint. The junior forward is also a solid mid-range shooter from the baseline when left open. At the other end, she is a versatile defender who can defend multiple positions. Beyond that, Rhonden is comfortable handling the ball in the half court and is a productive defensive rebounder.
