There was more excitement and standout performances on the first Friday of the 2021 season. St. Rose and Manasquan did battle once again, Rumson-Fair Haven and Red Bank Regional had a thrilling meeting and there was plenty of more action. Let’s take a look at the winners from the games on Jan. 29.
<strong>St. Rose:</strong> The Purple Roses got some revenge on Shore Conference rival Manasquan on Friday, edging the Warriors 60-53 behind a 30-point performance from [player_tooltip player_id="134621" first="Abigail" last="Antognoli"]. Antognoli hit 12 free throws and led St. Rose to a 1-1 record. Rosie Scognamiglio hit four 3-pointers on the way to 21 points. For Manasquan, Mary Elizabeth Donnelly buried five 3-pointers and totaled a team-high 26 points, while [player_tooltip player_id="134632" first="Georgia" last="Heine"] added 15 points.
<strong>Vanessa Sabol, Robbinsville: </strong>Sabol, a junior, had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds and made eight steals on defense in Robbinsville’s 72-11 win over Trenton.
<strong>Grace Munt, Rumson-Fair Haven: </strong>Munt, a senior, exploded for a game-high 31 points in a high-scoring 71-68 victory over Red Bank Regional. Rumson-Fair Haven scored 30 points in the fourth quarter and 55 total in the second half. Munt knocked down five triples in the win. [player_tooltip player_id="134754" first="Julia" last="Corsentino"] added 12 points and eight rebounds. Amelia Medolla put in 23 points for Red Bank Regional, and Camryn Gardner finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
<strong>Trenton Catholic: </strong>Trenton Catholic looked the part as one of the top teams in the state on Friday, cruising past Sinai Christian, 91-21, scoring 36 points in the first quarter. [player_tooltip player_id="134644" first="Zoe" last="Brooks"] had 31 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals, Aaylah Del Rosario added 16 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and four steals, [player_tooltip player_id="134622" first="Jasmin" last="Boyd"] chipped in 17 points and had 11 steals and Joniyah Bland hauled in 12 rebounds.
<strong>Sarah Mokrzecki, Emerson Boro: </strong>Mokrzecki scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Emerson Boro’s 62-34 victory over Weehawken. Emerson Boro improved to 2-0 on the season.
<strong>Naomi Lucca, Dumont: </strong>Lucca had a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds to go with four blocks in Dumont’s 76-43 win over New Milford. Dumont improved to 3-0 on the season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="155443" first="Alexis" last="Davis"], Glassboro:</strong> Davis continued her incredible start to the season with a 21-point, 20 rebound performance in a 50-44 Glassboro victory over Wildwood on Friday. Davis also had three steals and two blocks as Glassboro improved to 3-0.
<strong>Jakira Coar, Lincoln: </strong>Coar went for 34 points in Lincoln’s 60-32 win over St. Dominic. She hit eight 3-pointers on the night. Ijahne Smart added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Lincoln. St. Dominic’s [player_tooltip player_id="155449" first="Maddie" last="Branigan"] had 24 of the team’s 32 points.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134631" first="Ally" last="Carman"], Red Bank Catholic: </strong>Carman scored 26 points in Red Bank Catholic’s dominating 70-19 win over Long Branch.
