Breakdown:
NW Select Team Play
NW Select had eight players with 6 points or more - indicative of their ability to share the ball and space the floor through their teamwork. With [player_tooltip player_id="158545" first="Rhyan" last="Mogel"], [player_tooltip player_id="158542" first="Kennedie" last="Shuler"], and Jazzy Davidson handing out assists, the points and opportunities created themselves as everyone got good looks at the basket. This opened up the gates for the likes of [player_tooltip player_id="158551" first="Annie" last="Koenig"], [player_tooltip player_id="158553" first="Allie" last="Mead"], and [player_tooltip player_id="207820" first="Mia" last="Skoro"] who combined for 17 points which made a huge difference by the end of the game. [player_tooltip player_id="207819" first="Carly" last="Stone"] also had a superb effort with 6 points and 5 rebounds as a playmaker with the ball. When it was time for a player to step up, NW Select had several different options as they didn’t care who scored but rather how many touches they got per possession.
[player_tooltip player_id="158487" first="Toni" last="Coleman"] & [player_tooltip player_id="158483" first="Kaili" last="Chamberlin"]
The dynamic duo from South Medford provided for some highlight moments as Toni got to scoring from the get go as an elusive ball handler who has a quick first step and finds ways to get an edge on her defender. Chamberlin had her moments as a skilled three level scorer who can squeeze past you on the baseline but also drill it from deep. The tag team combined for 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists as they showed leadership and determination for Marathon Elite against a tough and collected squad in that of NW Select.
Davidson, Mogel, & Shuler
The triple threat for NW Select had another solid outing as they are the core nucleus of the team as they combined for 29 points, 23 rebounds, and 9 assists as they created opportunities for their teammates on their sixth sense with the ball. Jazzy got things going, starting the team’s first nine points, which opened the gates for her teammates. Mogel was a steady scorer in the half-court setting who also made gritty plays as a rebounder and passer. Shuler contributed as a creative scorer and rebounded with effort and created opportunities for others.
Hirsch & Dahlin
[player_tooltip player_id="158529" first="McKenzie" last="Hirsch"] and Laini Dahlin are cut from the same clutch, as they are two wing players for Marathon Elite who make plays with their IQ and wingspan. Both can guard multiple positions and show willingness and ability as spirited defenders who get the job done through discipline and effort. Hirsch sank one from deep on offense and scored at the mid-range level and at the rim. Dahlin sank two from deep for Marathon as she showed off her range. Both players showed animated performances for their club where they made the most out of their touches and left an imprint on the game through their efforts.
