Don’s SIRR Conference Top Performers

So far in this shortened season we have had some excellent play by some of the teams and players in the Ohio and Mississippi divisions of the SIRR conference. Here are some of the top players making noise. [player_tooltip player_id="200938" first="Lauryn" last="Gribble"] Lauryn is a strong forward that is tough in the post and in the lane for her Harrisburg team. She is a leader that is playing a big part as the team tries to get on track after losing a large senior class last year. Lauryn can use either hand in the post and does a good job of finishing around the rim. Riley Harrison is a 5'7 2022 Guard from Harrisburg. Riley is a nice shooter that has done a good job being a scoring option for Coach Steward this season. She has  stepped into the role for a team that turned over a large part of their roster from last season. Even with a short season I think Riley is showing herself as a player that could be primed to be a big part of the action in next years SIRR race. Addisyn Miller is a 5'7 2021 Guard from Benton. Addisyn has really stepped forward this year and shown her ability to shoot the ball. Once she makes one, she is a threat to make a bunch. Addisyn can also handle the ball as a combo guard and plays a good team game. She is a willing passer and defender that will play softball at the next level. Braelyn Miller is a 5'8 2023 Guard from Benton. Braelyn has shown herself to be another nice scorer for the Rangerettes. Braelyn is effective in the mid range and also plays a nice team game. While others are the focus of the opposing defenses Braelyn takes advantage and has been in double figures in multiple games. She is another athlete that excels in softball and brings that grit and determination to the basketball court. [player_tooltip player_id="195139" first="Ensley" last="Tedeschi"] Ensley is a long athlete with a high motor that affects the game in many ways. She defends and rebounds well. As a defender she gets her hands on many balls and causes mistakes because of her height and length that leads to run outs for the team. Offensively she is good on the break and in the mid range. Ensley has a high upside that will come from added strength and continued focus on her shot. Jersey Summers is a 5'6 2024 Guard from Herrin. Jersey has had some good games early in her high school career in the scoring column. Every night she is showing the toughness and grit that it takes to be a leader and top player in multiple sports. Jersey has played through an ankle injury in route to a big game and has proven to be a competitor with a nice stroke from 3-point range and the tools to be a top defender. [player_tooltip player_id="160152" first="Alyssa" last="Cole"] There are not many new things I can say about Alyssa. The ultimate team player and leader will do whatever the team needs her to do. With that in mind Alyssa is playing the role her team needs her to play this year. That role takes advantage of her strength and puts her inside the lane most of the time. She can score and rebound and shows her power. But, where Alyssa really excels in when she can take a post away from the basket as her wing skills have improved drastically over the past two years. She has been scoring consistently and pulling down important rebounds each game. Lily Tanner is a 6'0 2022 Forward from Pinckneyville. When Lily is aggressive she is a fun player to watch. She will attack the rim off the dribble as if her life depends on getting there. Nobody and nothing can stop her, yet, she is in control and can change direction off her bounce or a Euro step. Lily has the ability to hit the 3- point shot and also passes the ball well. Her length allows her to be tough on the defensive end too. To maximize her game Lily just needs to work on having a constant motor and refine her skills. Lily is certainly the type of player that could be a nice stretch 4 at a small school with the potential to work into a 3/4 combo player. [player_tooltip player_id="160149" first="Alecia" last="Doyle"] Alecia is another player that I have talked about numerous times. She is certainly coming through with the big breakout season that everyone has predicted. She shows outstanding athletic ability through her speed and quickness but especially in her jumping ability. When she gets proper lift from her legs and elevation on her shot, she has is deadly from out behind the 3-point line. Alecia is excellent in the mid range and has good court vision. I expect her list of D1 offers to take off this spring and summer. Amayah Doyle is a 5'10 2024 forward from Carterville. Amayah is the younger sister of Alecia and is an excellent basketball player. Amayah is taller and stronger than her sister and plays well inside or outside. She can hit the mid range jumpers all day but also battles inside and can score all day in the post. She rebounds well and will most likely end up using all of her skills and abilities as a D1 softball recruit.
