The McDonalds All-American Game is a staple of big time high school basketball. Being one of the nominees is one of the greatest honors that a high school basketball player can achieve. It puts their name up with state and national legends across the country. Final rosters will be released in late February. There will not be an in person game this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Let’s take a look at the Midwest nominees for the 2021 McDonalds All-American game that are from Michigan.
[player_tooltip player_id="27986" first="LaChelle" last="Austin"] (SG, Wayne Memorial)
Austin is a smooth scorer and has been one of the top shooting guards in the state for years now. She has to be accounted for by the defense at all times. Austin is headed to Eastern Michigan to play college basketball.
[player_tooltip player_id="4142" first="Jillian" last="Brown"] (CG, East Grand Rapids)
Brown may be one of the best to ever lace them up in Grand Rapids. She’s one of the top shooters in the state from behind the arc. Brown will be playing college basketball at Northwestern.
[player_tooltip player_id="138304" first="Kaliese" last="Christopher"] (SF, East Kentwood)
Christopher is a dangerous athlete on the wing. She can run the floor and is a terrific finisher in transition. Christopher is, in my opinion, one of the most exciting players to watch in Michigan.
[player_tooltip player_id="138299" first="Kailee" last="Davis"] (PG, Detroit Renaissance)
Davis will lock up defensively the entire length of the floor. She’s super quick and can stop and start on a dime. Davis will attend, and play basketball at, Northern Kentucky.
[player_tooltip player_id="138303" first="Kaybriana" last="Hallman"] (F, East Kentwood)
Hallman is a game changing forward. She uses her length to attack the passing lanes on defense and create turnovers. Hallman will be going to Xavier after her high school career is finished.
[player_tooltip player_id="4132" first="Damiya" last="Hagemann"] (PG, Detroit Edison)
Hagemann has as much flare as any point guard in the country. She can hit small spaces and pass teammates open. Hagemann will be playing at Michigan State next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="138315" first="Logan" last="Lewis"] (CG, West Bloomfield)
Lewis is an elite perimeter defender. I have seen her lock up elite scorers on a national scale. Lewis is headed to IUPUI to continue her basketball career.
[player_tooltip player_id="138328" first="Alexis" last="McCully"] (PG, East Kentwood)
McCully has continued to develop her game and turned herself into a legitimate D1 prospect. She’s an athletic and strong floor general that can create space and opportunities for her teammates.
[player_tooltip player_id="27968" first="Alana" last="Micheaux"] (PF, Wayne Memorial)
Micheaux is one of the most physically dominating post players in the midwest. She controls the paint and attacks the boards. Micheaux will be playing college basketball at Minnesota next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="27966" first="Bree" last="Salenbien"] (SF, Lenawee Christian)
Salenbien has all the tools. Her length, ball skills, and long strides make her a tough matchup at any level. Salenbien is headed to Gonzaga after high school.
[player_tooltip player_id="138317" first="Madisyn" last="Tillman"] (C, East Kentwood)
Tillman is a beast in the paint. She plays a physical game down low and puts herself in position for high percentage looks at the rim. Tillman will be playing at Eastern Michigan next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="28017" first="Shannon" last="Wheeler"] (PF, Detroit Renaissance)
Wheeler is the ultimate team player. She guards the opponents top post threat on a nightly basis. Wheeler will be playing college basketball at Dayton.
[player_tooltip player_id="26677" first="Morasha" last="Wiggins"] (SF, Kalamazoo Central)
Wiggins might be the best defender in the state and is one of the best in the midwest for that matter. She’ll attack the rim with physicality and average 20 a game in addition. She’s headed to North Carolina next season.
