Breakdown:
Naro’s Sixth Sense
[player_tooltip player_id="158547" first="Madison" last="Naro"] certainly has basketball genes in her heritage as her older sister Mary Kay Naro recently notched a Boise State single game record 16 assists for the Broncos. “Maddie” has instinctually great point guard skills - shown single handedly in her behind the back pass to Spear early in the first half. She is the traditional point guard who plays at a steady pace but more recently has shown the ability to let it go from deep at a moment’s notice. She is a crafty point guard who sets the table exceptionally well for others - as shown in her team high 5 assist total.
Balanced Attack
Clutch Rose had five players with five points or more and three individuals in double digits - indicative of their ability to score from top to bottom. [player_tooltip player_id="158567" first="Lainey" last="Spear"] once again showed her efficient ease at scoring, willfully making it to the rim and finishing once there. [player_tooltip player_id="158564" first="Zoe" last="Borter"] depicted her creative display of scoring, as she catches opponents off-kilter. Borter is a creative scorer who gets it done with both grit and innovativeness. [player_tooltip player_id="158544" first="Emma" last="Sixta"] sank two from five from deep as she also showed the ability to slash it baseline.
[player_tooltip player_id="207833" first="Emily" last="Rice"]
Perhaps the biggest surprise this weekend was Rice, who has shown consistency as a guard who can do it all. She can sink the open perimeter shot as well finishes in the paint well despite a crowded lane. She rebounds and defends with good effort and has a knack for making the extra pass as well as finding others in scoring position. Her 5 point, 5 rebound, 3 assist total was representative of her ability to affect the game in a multitude of ways.
