I had a chance to catch a work-out with some of the Texas Phenoms players at their training facility, Tha Hoop Spot and everyone wasn’t there but I got an eyeful as some of the states top players were on hand and guess what, some who I feel are heading into a breakout season this year. I’m checking out POWER BASKETBALL this evening, some heavy hitters in middle school who are going to make their presence felt immediately but back to the Phenoms and some #D1Locks at guard

Carter transferred to Lutheran North and brought everything you may have missed at her previous school, but her 30 plus PPG which included a game that she scored just under 50 solidified everything I said she would be in the 3rd grade, use the search bar, yet her poise and confidence has shot up as she realizes that she as the ability to do two very important things, take a game completely over or drop a silent 30 in the flow

Ogbevire gave me a taste of what was coming during her freshman season in the playoffs. I loved her explosiveness off the dribble and ability to get by defenders whenever she wanted to but now she’s creating her shot under pressure effortlessly and picking her spots on where to drop it, mid to long-range but keep in mind, that explosiveness is still there, so is the mindset and baseline to baseline, few are faster

Morgan has elevated her game every year I’ve watched her, this started when she was in the 7th grade, and watching her energy level stay the same during games places her in the “never takes a play off” category. She scores off the dribble, she creates her shot under pressure to do that or drop the mid to long-range off that same creativity but seeing her playing the passing lane or in the open court makes her a highlight waiting to happen
Makayla Manley-5’8 G (Stratford)
Manley transferred from across state lines and came in on fire as she was one of the read leading scorers from day one. She creates her shot under pressure, knocks the mid to long-range down consistently, and takes defenders off the dribble, with either hand and finishes, with either hand. As good as she is, I love her upside because of her understanding of the game as well as the desire and heat she applies on defense

Ruke Ogbevire-5’7 G
Ogbevire is a name you may not know yet when you see her, she’ll be a name you won’t forget and, I emphasize over and over, there is no me, this young lady has #BCS all over her, and since I don’t like being questioned, I have no reason to answer but I will. She plays against the “big girls” and blends in nicely, everyone can’t play up and many shouldn’t be yet here we are, and there RUKE goes as her blinding speed with the ball reminds me of my own daughter playing up. Ogbevire can score from outside, she defends and she sees the floor
