There were a number of games on Monday as the season has just a few weeks remaining. A top-10 matchup took place between St. John Vianney and Paul VI, and other teams continued to make a statement. Let’s take a look at the winners from Monday’s action.
<strong>Faith Bethea, Snyder: </strong>Outside of a loss to Hudson Catholic, Snyder has been flawless thus far at 5-1. On Monday, the team edged North Bergen, 46-44. Junior Faith Bethea had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jah’nel Lewis led the team with 15 points.
<strong>Chloe Kreusser, Westfield: </strong>Kreusser recorded a double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds to go with three blocks and three steals in a 53-44 double-overtime loss to Oak Knoll Monday. Kreusser now has four double-doubles in six games.
<strong>Joi Johnson, Ewing: </strong>In a battle of unbeaten teams, Ewing moved to 7-0 behind an incredible performance from Johnson, who exploded for 19 points, 20 rebounds and six blocks. Ewing outscored Notre Dame 39-18 in the second half.
<strong>Kendra Dempsey, Lawrence: </strong>Dempsey finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks as Lawrence edged Princeton, 54-48, in double overtime.
<strong>Lila Shaver, Point Pleasant Boro: </strong>Shaver hit four 3-pointers and went for 26 points to go with six rebounds in Point Pleasant Boro’s 47-31 win over Brick Township. Keira Munyan grabbed 15 rebounds and Genevieve Fara hauled in 13 rebounds for Point Pleasant Boro.
<strong>Paris Thorp, Wall: </strong>In a 66-61 loss to Jackson Liberty, Thorp finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for Wall. Shayne Eldridge put in 22 points for Wall.
<strong>Jamiyah Alston, Piscataway Tech: </strong>Alston put in 30 points to lead Piscataway Tech past Perth Amboy Tech, 54-21. Alston has been a big-time playmaker for Piscataway Tech through seven games, averaging 20.3 points per game.
<strong>Pope John: </strong>Pope John stayed perfect at 4-0 with a 10-point victory over Morristown. [player_tooltip player_id="134641" first="Alana" last="Robinson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="134633" first="Faith" last="Pappas"] led the way for the Lions. Pappas put in 30 points and Robinson had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in addition to two blocks.
<strong>Catherine Pettegrove, Voorhees: </strong>Pettegrove put in 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and had two blocks for Voorhees in its 51-30 win over Bernards. Pettegrove has recorded a double-double in every game for the Vikings thus far. The senior is averaging 18.3 points per game and 14.8 rebounds per game.
<strong>Vanessa Sabol, Robbinsville: </strong>Sabol and Robbinsville won their sixth straight game Monday, defeating Steinert, 49-16. Sabol totaled 16 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and five assists.
<strong>St. John Vianney: </strong>St. John Vianney used a 25-17 fourth quarter to pull away from Paul VI, 63-53, on Monday. The No. 1 team in the state picked up yet another win over a highly ranked opponent in No. 6 Paul VI just days after taking down Saddle River Day. [player_tooltip player_id="134626" first="Madison" last="St. Rose"] led St. John Vianney with 26 points and nine rebounds, making 15 free throws. [player_tooltip player_id="134610" first="Katie" last="Hill"] added 22 points and 10 rebounds. Sara McShea and Janice Ashong each had a double-double for Paul VI.
