It was another action-packed day of basketball around New Jersey. Featuring some state-ranked matchups, there was no shortage of drama and excitement on Thursday. Let’s take a look at the winners from the day’s games.
<strong>Cara McCoy, Barnegat: </strong>McCoy led Barnegat to its first win of the season behind a 39-27 victory over Lakewood, finishing with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
<strong>Jayden Foster/Ahjanae Young, Neptune: </strong>Foster and Young were a deadly duo for Neptune in its 69-56 victory over Wall on Thursday. Foster had a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds and Young totaled 24 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals.
<strong>Angelina Sanchez, Manville: </strong>Sanchez finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to go with six steals as Manville took down North Plainfield, 41-21.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="155551" first="Bella" last="Vito"], Montville: </strong>Vito scored 26 points and hauled in 11 rebounds in Montville’s 55-30 win over Morristown.
<strong>Katy Gashler, Westwood: </strong>Gashler had 26 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks as Westwood defeated Holy Angels by a 58-25 score.
<strong>Ileana Sosa-Lola, Woodrow Wilson: </strong>Sosa-Lola finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks for Woodrow Wilson in its 36-34 victory over Washington Township.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134751" first="Rylie" last="Theuerkauf"], Tenafly: </strong>Theuerkauf knocked down four 3-pointers and put in 36 points in Tenafly’s 54-52 loss to Demarest.
<strong>Sophia Berisha, Old Tappan: </strong>Berisha hit six triples and put in 34 points as Old Tappan defeated Pascack Valley, 67-58. Old Tappan put in 24 second-quarter points.
<strong>Olivia Omelczuk, Morristown-Beard: </strong>Omelczuk hit five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 30 points to lift Morristown-Beard past Veritas Christian, 52-36. With the win, the Crimson improved to 4-0.<strong> </strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134639" first="Madison" last="Schiller"], Ramapo: </strong>Schiller had 26 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals in Ramapo’s 59-43 victory over Teaneck.
<strong>Megan Sears, Indian Hills: </strong>Sears hit five 3-pointers and scored 30 points in Indian Hills’ 61-51 loss to Hackensack.
<strong>Joi Johnson, Ewing: </strong>Johnson, a freshman, had 30 points, 18 rebounds, four steals, three assists and a block for Ewing in a 69-23 victory over Hamilton West on Thursday.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="155449" first="Maddie" last="Branigan"], St. Dominic: </strong>Branigan finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds as St. Dominic rolled past Memorial, 56-31.
<strong>Immaculate Heart: </strong>In a battle of top-15 teams, Immaculate Heart slipped past Hudson Catholic, 49-47, improving to 3-0 on the season. Isabella Asencio led the team with 16 points.<strong> </strong>
<strong>Caileigh Walsh, Gill St. Bernard’s: </strong>Walsh finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in Gill St. Bernard’s 39-25 victory over Hunterdon Central.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134626" first="Madison" last="St. Rose"], St. John Vianney: </strong>St. Rose put in 25 points and made seven steals and grabbed five rebounds in top-ranked St. John Vianney’s 69-52 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven.
<strong>Paul VI:</strong> In a top-10 showdown on Thursday, Paul VI edged Cherokee, 38-33. [player_tooltip player_id="134645" first="Hannah" last="Hidalgo"] lifted Paul VI with a game-high 15 points and [player_tooltip player_id="134642" first="Veyoni" last="Davis"] added 10. Paul VI improved to 2-0 and Cherokee fell to 3-1.
