2021 Rankings Update: Stock Risers
In this article:
There wasn’t a whole lot of changes made to the Top 20 however I had a chance to catch players I hadn’t seen before or hadn’t seen enough of to add to the Top 100 plus list, one came from out of nowhere to be listed at #15 so please remember to place yourselves in a position to be seen at the numerous events and especially Individual Showcases I’m covering, where I evaluate everyone

6’0 CG – Foster (Tennessee)
(Unranked)
Wynn came in with a bang, putting up numbers and elevating Foster to be a legitimate UIL 5A contender and it wasn’t just because she put up numbers, she averaged 29 PPP nor the fact that she committed to Tennessee, it’s the fact that she helped make those around her better and with her size and aggressiveness, she was somewhat overpowering attacking the basket and scoring not to mention setting teammates up for easy baskets. The team lost only 3 games, 2 of them by 12 each time to UIL 6A Runner Up Cy Creek and in the Regional Semifinals by 10 to College Station
No. 19 Zoe Nelson Zoe Nelson 6'1" | PF Hendrickson | 2021 State TX 6’1 PF-Hendrickson ( Stephen F Austin)
(Up from No. 28)
Helped lead her team on a tear, after starting off 0-2, they won 24 straight before losing in the playoffs to regional runner-up Beaumont United but her performances throughout the season were amazing, to say the least as at times, she put her team on her back and when you can play all 5 positions quite well, you can take defenders off the dribble, post them up, shoot the mid to long-range, I probably sound like a broken record because I’ve been saying that before she entered high school but her leadership definitely played a huge part as she heads to Southland Conference Champion Stephen F Austin
No. 20 Kendall Brown Kendall Brown 5'9" | CG Desoto | 2021 State TX 5’9 CG-Desoto (Houston)
(Up from No. 29)
Two hashtags fit appropriately after she helped lead her team to state and that’s #CLUTCH as well as #BEAST and what I’ve always loved about her game other than her ability to shoot the mid to long-range and take defenders off the dribble is that she never deferred to anyone, her mindset and desire was never a question and that package will be accompanying her to the University Of Houston where I’m expecting a quick transition and speaking of transition, her scoring combined with “that package” helped lead Desoto to the UIL 6A State Championship
No. 49 Evelyn Quiroz Evelyn Quiroz 5'6" | CG Laredo United | 2021 State TX 5’6 CG- Laredo United (Texas A&M International)
(Unranked)
Her name preceded her at one of the Individual Showcases I caught her playing, in fact, I caught her at multiple individual events including my All Eyez On Me and Prep Girls 250 Expo, again, I need to see you so watching her poise on the floor, under pressure handling the ball immediately grabbed at me as she through passes on the money for layups in traffic and then it happened, she created off the dribble for jumper after jumper, with a hand in her face and I’m talking mid to long-range and just for fun, well for me, she finished acrobatically attacking the basket
No. 57 Chloe Callahan Chloe Callahan 5'10" | SG Canyon | 2021 State TX 5’7 CG- Canyon (North Texas)
(Unranked)
When I heard her name, Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry popped into my head and she immediately showed me she was legit, just like the movie but her ability to take the game over just was overwhelming as she scored however she wanted but seeing her master the mid-range, a definite lost art, was pleasing, to say the least. She elevates on her jumper, she’s long and gets her shot off whenever she wants yet she doesn’t force anything and was named UIL 4A MVP as she helped lead her team to the State Championship
