Continue ReadingI often think about me getting caught up in a number associated with my daughter’s name and when this fool ranked her 208 at the guard spot because he hadn’t seen her, there was no RHYME or REASONING because I usually look at things from a logical standpoint, at least when I evaluate and I can’t just make up something if I haven’t seen someone play this is why I have simplified where I’ll be yet I often get the “you need to see” this or that when it’s always “you need to be where I am” but here are the players who made double-digit jumps

Helped lead her team to its first State Championship (UIL 5A) and her hands and footwork have always been really good yet they were on full display as she worked the defender multiple ways for baskets, scoring with both hands, this includes after contact but hse’s not a one-dimensional player, she attacked the rim and faced the basket for points, let me not leave out solid rebounding and defense

Johnson’s high school team came to Houston to play in a doubleheader and I had a double-take on how actually good she is. Standing at 75 inches, she’s also long and athletic and started off controlling it from both ends, this included blocking shots to ignite breaks, starting the break by throwing outlets, and finishing on the play after running the floor or that desire to grab the ball off the rim, numerous putbacks and free throw attempts cane from that and she played the passing lane

Next on Deck after her talented sister graduated and she has excelled in the leadership role as well as understanding how to put her team on her back. She’s a powerful guard that can attack from multiple angles and finishes strongly after contact but she’s also explosive with her jumper as she creates under pressure and elevates over defenders to drop the mid to long-range

I threw the #THROWBACK on her last season after watching her “stay with it” off the glass which means wherever the ball came off the rim, she was there and that’s concentration and desire, a couple of the many things you can’t teach but her strength on the inside made her a “nightmare to defend” as she’s added some nifty moves as well as finishing with either hand.

I knew she was good when I caught her at last season’s Tyrone Johnson Showcase, that’s how she was added to the Top 100 yet catching her this past weekend at the #ItsOnClassic left me speechless as it would be easier for me to name what she couldn’t do, like dunk yet her ability to dazzle defenders with the ball to attack or hit the mid to long-range was just sheer magic. She sees the floor, plays the passing lane as well as solid defense
