The District brackets have been released. There are some really good matchups and potential matchups that lie ahead. We will look at District 2, which is one that stood out to me.

OVERVIEW

This District has high quality players and some very interesting matchups. Midland Dow has been on a roll all season long and will look to continue their high level of play in the District tournament. Midland High School has the talent to compete, while star players on the other teams have the ability to lead their teams to victories.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id="175995" first="Olivia" last="Carpenter"] (2021, CG, Midland)
Carpenter is a very solid all around athlete and her game is built in that fashion. She is a versatile guard that can score and distribute. Carpenter is a solid shooter from beyond the arc.
[player_tooltip player_id="182918" first="Jade" last="Dawson"] (2022, PF, Midland)
Dawson can cause headaches for her opponent. She’s an athletic forward that is a very tough matchup. She’s a very experienced junior that can lead her team to a title.
[player_tooltip player_id="138319" first="Mackenzie" last="Egger"] (2021, PG, Mount Pleasant)
Egger could be a real problem in this District. If she comes out with her A+ game (which she does quite often), Mount Pleasant can do damage.
[player_tooltip player_id="147750" first="Jada" last="Garner"] (2021, SG, Midland Dow)
I watched Garner earlier this season and was thoroughly impressed. I had underestimated her overall athleticism and straight line speed. She is one of those players that can just make things happen. Garner has a solid shooting stroke and can score from multiple spots.
[player_tooltip player_id="186364" first="Alexandra" last="Kolnitys"] (2022, PG, Midland Dow)
Kolnitys has had a terrific junior season. She’s sent a clear message this year about the type of player that she is. Kolnitys will play a key role in Dow’s chase of a District title.
[player_tooltip player_id="179103" first="Abby" last="Rey"] (2022, SF, Midland Dow)
Rey is a really intriguing prospect. She’s willing to do the little things that lead to wins for her team. Rey is an efficient scorer off the wing.
[player_tooltip player_id="147719" first="Alecsis" last="Smith"] (2022, C, Bay City Central)
Whatever team Smith plays against needs to get good shots and shoot well, because Smith can control the paint and limit their second chance opportunities. She’s perfectly capable of putting up a triple-double, no matter who the opponent is.
[player_tooltip player_id="175200" first="Grace" last="Weitzel"] (2021, PF, Bay City Western)
Weitzel could have a big say in how this District plays out. She’s a consistent scorer that excels in a physical game.
