<strong>GHSA State Championships: Day 1 Standouts</strong>
<strong>2021 6-2 F [player_tooltip player_id="118106" first="Malia" last="Fisher"] – Hebron Christian – Rice</strong>
The footwork and polish of [player_tooltip player_id="118106" first="Malia" last="Fisher"] in the low post was key to Hebron Christian claiming their first state title. When the Lions needed a bucket, they went inside to Fisher. Malia was patient in the post and would gather herself before going up strong. She used up-and-unders and a quick first step out of the face-up to score. She tallied 18 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks.
<strong>2022 6-1 F [player_tooltip player_id="118148" first="Jessie" last="Parish"] – Hebron Christian</strong>
The dual sport standout that also doubles as a big-time swimmer is an intriguing prospect. She’s physically imposing with her size and can rebound in a crowd. She isn’t as quick as Fisher, but she can attack on straight line drives and showed the ability to hit the three. Parish had 9 points and 11 rebounds.
<strong>2021 5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="118098" first="Mia" last="Moore"] – St. Francis – Mississippi State</strong>
Two [player_tooltip player_id="118098" first="Mia" last="Moore"] free throws with 0.4 seconds left on the clock sent the game to overtime before the Knights ultimately fell 51-46. Moore was tough to contain, going for 18 points and 7 rebounds. Her quickness and ability to slide into the lane to score and make plays for others is impressive. She’s a good athlete and a three-level scorer.
<strong>2023 5-7 CG [player_tooltip player_id="213334" first="Erica" last="Moon"] – St. Francis </strong>
[player_tooltip player_id="213334" first="Erica" last="Moon"] is a [player_tooltip player_id="118098" first="Mia" last="Moore"] clone, possessing similar traits. Like Moore, Moon is at her best when she’s getting into the lane and breaking down defenders. She’s a good athlete that can crash the offensive glass. Moon has a dangerous outside shot. She finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. She’s a stat sheet stuffer that will be a hot prospect among D-I schools.
<strong>2021 5-10 G [player_tooltip player_id="118102" first="Kionna" last="Gaines"] – Carver-Columbus – Clemson</strong>
In an up-and-down transition game, KeKe Gaines flourished with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals. The elite athlete was too quick and too strong when putting her head down and getting to the rim. She shot 8-12 from the foul line.
<strong>2021 5-7 G [player_tooltip player_id="204669" first="Ambria" last="Vicks"] – Cairo</strong>
[player_tooltip player_id="204669" first="Ambria" last="Vicks"] finished her great career with 19 points and 14 rebounds. She’s a solid guard that knows how to score. She has a respectable outside shot and is an opportunistic driver. Vicks could help a small school with her feel for the game.
<strong>2021 6-0 C Leah Perry – Cairo</strong>
The length of Leah Perry was effective as she finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Perry has a good body for the college level. She’s long yet strong. With some more development she could become an impactful player in college.
